Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 28

Harvey just sat there, watching her. After a while, he loosened his grip on her arm, eased back into the leather seat, and shut his eyes.

He looked beat.

Eloise didn't give him a hard time, just watched him with her head tilted.

A bit later, Harvey straightened up and hit a button. The roof slid open, replaced by a deep blue glass. Since they were in the mountains, the stars in the night sky were especially bright through the sunroof.

Harvey leaned back in his seat, not saying a word, just staring up at the night sky.

Eloise wanted to ask something, but then he pulled her in. She had to lean on his shoulder, smelling his unique sandalwood scent, her cheeks turning a bit warm.

"Stay with me a while." Harvey's voice was a bit raspy.

Eloise couldn't say no. She wasn't sure if all successful men were good at showing their vulnerability, or if all women were moved by it, but Harvey had helped her before. And when he showed his exhaustion and vulnerability, she couldn't push him away.

Maybe because she was silent for a long time, Harvey asked softly, "What are you thinking about?"

"Emm, nothing!" Eloise's mind was a mess.

Then they both fell silent, just holding each other.

Harvey was so handsome. If Eloise said she wasn't attracted to him, she'd be lying. She didn't push him away dramatically, instead, she quietly rested her hand on his waist.

Eloise was surrounded by Harvey's masculine scent, and she had to admit, the sensory stimulation Harvey gave her was something even Max never did. Even if she wasn't forced by her family's situation, she was single and met Harvey, she'd be willing to have a relationship with him. But there were too many obstacles between them, they weren't destined to have much in common.

With these vague thoughts, she fell asleep in his arms.

Harvey looked down at Eloise in his arms. Her long, cool, light brown hair spread over her shoulders. With her clean little face and delicate shoulders. she was lying in his arms, looking very light and soft.

Eloise felt like her thoughts were seen through, and she was a bit annoyed. She didn't pay him any more attention, just moved over to the passenger seat.

Harvey hummed softly, glancing at her.

Eloise's face started to heat up, and she tried to hide her emotions, "Attorney Horigan, please take me home."

Harvey noticed the faint blush on her face. He thought that since Eloise had been with Max for four years, she should be experienced, but she still easily got shy. This surprised Harvey a bit.

Harvey was moved by Eloise's words; he did have feelings for her. He drove Eloise home, not to the previous luxurious apartment, but to a run-down neighborhood. Eloise said softly, "It’s here. Thank you, Attorney Horigan."

Harvey rolled down the window, took in the surrounding buildings, then looked at Eloise's slender and frail figure. He knew how much she had been through, but even now, she didn't ask him for anything.

For a moment, Harvey felt a pang of pity. He even thought about breaking the rules to help her. But this thought was fleeting. Right now, Eloise wasn't that important to him.
