Eloise covered her chest and dry-heaved a few times.
Harvey had just finished pouring a glass of milk when he heard the sound. He hurried over, with a look of concern on his face. "What's wrong?"
Eloise looked rather pale. She knew what was happening, but she shook her head at Harvey. "I'm fine. Just a little nauseous."
Harvey helped her to a chair. He crouched in front of her, gently patting her back and softly saying, "You shouldn't be doing housework anymore. Let the maid do it, and I'll take care of you."
At that moment, they were at eye level. Eloise looked at his handsome features, feeling a flutter in her heart. Harvey was a good husband, indeed.
She gently touched his face, her voice soft. "Remember when you said you wanted another child? Harvey, maybe next year Linda will have a little brother or sister."
Harvey was stunned.
Eloise took his hand and placed it on her belly. "Surprised?"
Considering how often they had sex, having a baby was quite normal, wasn't it?
After a moment, Harvey found his voice. His hand gently stroked her flat stomach. There was no bump yet, of course, but he just wanted to touch, to feel the presence of their child. Later, he half-kneeled to get closer to her.
Eloise felt a warmth spreading in her heart. No woman could resist a man's closeness. He didn't say anything, but she could tell he was overjoyed.
"Harvey, pour the soup out, or it'll burn."
Harvey still seemed reluctant to leave her side.
Eloise's slender finger traced his handsome features. "If I really am pregnant, don't neglect Linda."
Harvey chuckled. He said, "How could I? I'll take care of all three of you." After saying this, he lifted Eloise and carried her to the living room couch.
Once he set her down, his dark eyes fondly watched her stomach. Eloise playfully swatted his hand away. "Go. And heat up Linda's milk."
Harvey leaned in to kiss her. "Eloise, thank you."
After he finished in the kitchen, Orlena's car arrived.
She was crying again.
Harvey shook the bottle of milk. "Did that old man bully you again?"
Eloise didn't like this kind of talk. She urged him, "Linda's probably falling asleep. Aren't you going to take her milk to her?"
Harvey's gazes were deep, with a hint of meaning in them. In the end, he didn't say anything else. He slowly walked up the stairs to take care of the child.
Orlena complained for a while, then couldn't help but sit at the dining table and eat, sniffing all the while. Under the dim light, her small face had a pearl-like glow, and beads of sweat appeared on her nose. Eloise could understand why her uncle couldn't let go. As a man of his status, living always in calculations, having Orlena by his side must be very relaxing.
"Slow down."
Eloise was two years younger than Orlena, but she always treated Orlena like a child.
Orlena finished the soup in one go. She was very dependent on Eloise; even though Eloise was part of Brett's family, she couldn't help herself.
After Harvey had put Linda to bed and came down from the upstairs, he saw his sister lying on Eloise's lap. He walked over and knocked on her head. "Don't lie on your sister-in-law's lap."
"It's okay." Eloise couldn't help but say.
Harvey's gaze darkened, and she dared not say anything more. He made his sister sit properly, then sat down across from her with the baby bottle in hand. He said seriously, "If you can't let go, then try to make do. If you're not satisfied, then follow our parents' wishes. Pick someone decent from among the people you're being set up with and date them."
Orlena looked down and didn’t say anything.
Harvey continued, "Dating is not a crime. Or are you afraid that if you start dating, he'll mind and won't want you?"
"No." Orlena immediately denied.
"That's good! Otherwise, that would be too pathetic." Harvey huffed.
He went to the kitchen to wash the baby bottle. He carefully cleaned Linda's bottle, then put it in the sterilizer. Orlena watched, her eyes widened.
......
When it was time to sleep, Eloise tossed and turned. Harvey turned to her, his voice low. "Can't sleep?"
Eloise nodded.
He knew she was worried about Orlena, so he sighed. "Eloise, don't spoil her too much. She's an adult and should be able to handle her own affairs, not have us make decisions for her. If you keep spoiling her, when will she grow up?"
Eloise felt he was right. She gently moved into his arms, drawing warmth from his body. She spoke softly, "Go with me to the hospital tomorrow. I'll feel better after the check-up."
Harvey bent down to kiss her. He had already asked Denise to clear his schedule for tomorrow. He would spend the whole day with her.
In the morning, they took Linda to kindergarten.
When it was time to get in the car, Harvey tenderly helped Eloise. Linda sat in her car seat, her eyes widened.
When Eloise sat down, the little girl's gaze fell on her stomach. She asked quietly, "Mommy, do you have another baby?"
Eloise was taken aback.
Harvey fastened the seat belt for the little girl, smiling. "I didn't tell her. She's very smart." As a father, he was naturally proud.
As they were talking, Pauline emerged from the prayer room, also beaming with joy.
Parker suggested to his wife, "I think we should arrange the wedding as soon as possible. The last time they quarreled and didn't have a proper ceremony, it was a regret. Now that Eloise is pregnant, you should take Orlena and put some extra effort into the preparations, let Orlena learn as well."
Pauline naturally agreed. She had always adored Eloise and wanted to see her in a beautiful wedding dress, marrying Harvey.
Half of Parker's worries were eased, and he started to joke, "By the way, the man you hired before really knows his stuff, he said that Harvey's other half is an Aquarius and it turns out to be true. Why don't you take the kids and pay him another visit, get a reading for Orlena too."
Pauline had the same thought. She had made a wish last time, and now that it had been fulfilled, naturally she needed to go and give her gratitude.
It was autumn and the weather was perfect. Pauline picked a good day and took the younger generation of the family to the temple. The monk rarely met with people, but Pauline's devout faith and status made her an exception.
In the simple room, Pauline made a generous donation and thanked the monk profusely.
Master Lee invited them to sit, personally brewing tea from the mountain; the taste was very pure.
Pauline spoke with him with a smile. After they talked for a while, she brought up Orlena.
Master Lee understood worldly affairs. After hearing Orlena's birth date, he stroked his snowy beard, smiling, "Her destined one is an Aries."
Aries?
Pauline was quick to think of the professor she had recently met, but he wasn't an Aries, and she was somewhat disappointed.
At this point, Eloise softly said, "My uncle is an Aries."
Pauline didn’t know how to respond.
Master Lee laughed, "People who are meant to be together will not be separated."
Perhaps because Eloise spoke, he took a closer look. But after a while, he was surprised. Then he glanced at the handsome man beside her, whose features were subtly tinged with a murderous aura, the result of years of pent-up emotions.
Master Lee was taken aback. He pointed at Harvey, "You have accumulated too much resentment in your early years. I'm afraid your relationships are weak."
At these words, everyone from the Horigan family froze. Pauline looked mournful, and worried. Even Eloise's expression changed slightly.
Harvey's Adam's apple bobbed. He suppressed his emotions, then said in a low voice, "I believe more in the power of human will."
Master Lee said, "Your strong personality may endanger those around you. You will undergo a cycle of reincarnation in this world. Only after you have waited for the clouds to clear and the moon to appear, will you truly be complete."
Suddenly, he took Eloise's hand and wrote a word in the palm of her hand.
Wait.
