Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 20

In the chaos, Eloise found herself scooped up by Harvey. She snuggled into his arms, feeling the warmth and a faint musky scent.

They were moving farther away from the abandoned warehouse.

Eloise's anxiety eased a little. She closed her eyes, only to feel a wave of dizziness wash over her. "Harvey," she whispered, gripping his shirt.

He looked down at her, whose face was pale as a ghost. Leaning on him, she murmured weakly, "I got hit in the back of my head, might be a concussion."

Without hesitation, Harvey rushed her to the hospital in his car.

Relegated to the backseat, Eloise felt miserable. She felt like puking her guts out!

Harvey was multitasking, one hand on the wheel, the other on his phone. "Dr. Huffman, it's Harvey. I have a friend who might've had a concussion. I'm bringing her in... Alright, I'll be there in ten."

...

After hanging up, Harvey glanced in the rearview mirror and asked gently, "How are you holding up?"

Eloise, eyes still closed, responded with a feeble moan. Her voice was so soft and frail, it tugged at his heartstrings. He reassured her softly, "We're almost at the hospital."

In the midst of her discomfort, Eloise had a fuzzy thought. Who would've known that Harvey, of all people, could be so gentle?

Upon arrival at the hospital, thanks to Harvey's connections, she was taken straight to the ER.

After checking her results, Dr. Huffman chuckled. "Good news, it's just a minor concussion! You'll need to stay for observation for a few days."

Harvey expressed his gratitude.

He looked at her, his face impassive as ever, but he asked, "How long are you gonna stare?"

Eloise blushed, whispering, "I'm thirsty."

She had expected him to call a nurse, but instead, he poured her a glass of water, sat down next to her bed, and prepared to feed her.

Eloise felt herself being pulled into his chest. She squirmed, trying to pull away, weakly saying, "Harvey, I can do it myself!"

He just looked at her. His eyes were deep and unreadable, but his expression was stern.

Eloise didn't dare argue, so she just leaned against his shoulder, sipping water from the glass in his hand. She couldn't tell if it was her imagination, but his grip seemed to tighten.

Just then, the door to the room swung open. Dr. Huffman walked in to find a somewhat intimate scene. He greeted them with a friendly smile, "Miss, how are you feeling now?"
