Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 142

Eloise was taken aback.

Vanessa chuckled, "She looked like your kin."

Eloise decided to dig deeper.

The receptionist said on the phone, "Yes, she was brought by her mother, a very pretty little girl."

Eloise hung up the phone, looking at Vanessa.

Vanessa joked, "Do you think she's Harvey's child from his twenties? Did he send her here because of your spat?"

Eloise replied, "He's not that petty." Then she paused, when did she start knowing Harvey so well?

"I'll go check it out."

Eloise headed for the reception, and Vanessa followed with curiosity.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw Pauline Horigan and Orlena Horigan sitting on the sofa.

Eloise managed to smile and sat opposite them, "Pauline, what brings you here?"

Pauline looked worried.

She's upset about her son, but he's not helping the situation. Hearing that his spat with Eloise had escalated to the point of breaking up, she had to step in.

Pauline whispered, "I heard from Harvey about your Encore Soundworks. I've been wanting to visit, and it's really great!"

She pulled Orlena over, "Orlena isn't good at music. I want her to learn here."

Orlena said, "Mom, I passed the 10th grade piano exam when I was 10."

Pauline didn't respond. She continued to look at Eloise gently, "Eloise, you're not going to cut ties with me over Harvey, are you?"

Eloise felt a headache coming on, and she exchanged a glance with Vanessa.

Vanessa just watched, with no intention to intervene.

Eloise had to handle it herself, and she politely said, "Pauline, we only accept children under 16."

Orlena quickly said, "I'm a child too."

She hugged Eloise tightly, "Eloise, just treat me like a five-year-old, can't be any older."

Eloise felt a headache again.

Vanessa patted her shoulder gently and then left.

Vanessa couldn't help but laugh.

Eloise watched her leave, then turned back to them, awkwardly saying, "Harvey and I are no longer together."

Pauline blinked lightly, "I'm just here to teach Orlena piano."

Eloise reluctantly agreed.

Pauline paid the tuition and had the driver deliver some valuable supplements, and she whispered, "I know Harvey has a bad temper. You must have suffered a lot."

Eloise hesitated, then confessed. She said, "Actually, Harvey and I are not what you think."

Orlena blinked lightly then she quickly interrupted her, "I know, you guys are not at the marriage stage yet!"

Orlena glanced at Eloise, thinking she was a bit silly, discussing their bedroom relationship with the parents. Even if the parents were open-minded, they would have some thoughts.

Eloise was stunned.

Orlena hugged her tightly again, "Anyway, you're mine today! I want to eat French food and have a date with you."

Pauline didn't stop her daughter's behavior.

She smiled and said, "Eloise, I'll leave Orlena to you."

Orlena excitedly said, "Eloise, let's go eat French food together!"

Eloise really wanted to call Harvey to have him pick up his sister, but in the end, Orlena stayed at Encore Soundworks for a whole day.

In the evening, she took Eloise to a French restaurant.

Pauline was also there, elegantly sipping red wine, smiling as the two girls chatted.

Eloise's lips twitched. "Thanks."

She felt it was about time to leave, but Harvey said, "I came to pick up my mother and haven't had dinner yet. You won't mind if I join, will you?"

His tone was cold, not trying to please anyone.

Eloise felt it was hard to refuse him from any aspects, so she forced a smile. "Attorney Horigan, feel free."

Harvey glanced at her. Then he did something totally unexpected. He didn't ask for a new set of utensils but took Eloise's soda and took a big gulp.

Pauline was all smiles.

Eloise blushed instantly, "Attorney Horigan, I can get you a new set of utensils!"

"No need."

His look was saying, "I don't mind."

Eloise thought to herself, was this the point? Her face turned even redder!

Harvey, who had been busy all day, was really hungry.

He was eating fast but with grace.

Eloise was sitting there, watching the time go by, thinking about how to escape. She might be a bit slow, but she knew this was a trap set by Harvey.

What did this mean?

He hurt her feelings and then gives her a little sugar to soothe her. What did he think Eloise was?

But Eloise was helpless because the Horigan family had significant influence, so she couldn't openly confront him unless she wanted to give up her career in Peterborough.

"Eloise, the way you're staring at me is giving me ideas," Harvey said as he wiped his mouth.

Eloise didn't want to entertain him, "You're overthinking it!"

Harvey took another sip of his water, his gaze even more intense than before, but his words weren't as pleasant, "Really? I thought maybe you hated me because you loved me too much."
