Eloise took a pause. She looked down and smiled, "Harvey, we are from two different worlds. How I live my life, and what I turn into, it's none of your business."
If he thought she regretted it, he was wrong.
Eloise walked away without looking back. When she returned to the private room, the atmosphere was still buoyant, except for Mr. Hughes, whose gaze carried a hint of amusement.
Someone started to coax her into drinking again.
Vanessa felt sorry for her and wanted to drink for her. But that guy had a high status and said deliberately, "Ms. Vanessa, people in business often drink. At the dining table, men and women are equal, and Ms. Laurent may seem delicate, but her performance just now had a strong, powerful woman's demeanor."
He handed a glass of red wine to Eloise. "Ms. Laurent, if you drink this glass of wine, I will seriously consider this investment."
Vanessa wanted to say something, but Eloise gently held her hand. Eloise smiled and said, "Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Jones. Of course, I will accept your goodwill."
She picked up her glass and was about to drink when a hand suddenly took the glass from her hand. "Let me drink this glass for Ms. Laurent."
After saying that, Harvey smiled lightly, "I wonder if I'm qualified for this."
The box suddenly fell silent. No one expected Harvey to come over and openly confront Mr. Jones.
This was quite a show.
Mr. Hughes smoked his cigarette, chuckling meaningfully, "Harvey, be careful."
Harvey turned around, gently put his arm around Eloise's shoulder, no matter how stiff or resistant she was. He smiled slightly, "I came to pick up Ms. Laurent. I saw her vomiting in the bathroom, and I felt bad."
After saying that, he put down the glass in his hand. "Mr. Jones, what do you think we should do?"
Mr. Jones, who was usually very arrogant, fell silent at this moment, and those around did not attempt to intervene.
Ha!
Harvey didn't seem to be in a good mood, and who would dare to mess with him?
After a long silence, Eloise gently picked up the glass and drained it. She smiled lightly at Mr. Jones, "Mr. Jones, let's be friends."
Mr. Jones was stunned. Then his eyes reddened a bit, he was bound to offend Harvey no matter what he did earlier, but he didn't expect Eloise to bail him out.
He immediately stood up and poured himself some red wine. He drank three glasses in a row. Then he said to Vanessa, "Ms. Laurent is a good person. I've decided to invest."
Vanessa was happy, but she also worried about Eloise.
Eloise clearly did not uphold Harvey's dignity, and after Mr. Jones had three drinks, she followed suit with three drinks, getting quite drunk herself. In her blurry state, she thought that perhaps she didn't want to face Harvey with a clear mind.
She sat in the car, covering her eyes. The pain in her heart made it unbearable. Why, why did he have to appear in front of her? In her hazy state, she felt that the person beside her had changed. It was Harvey.
She tilted her head and softly asked, "Why did Vanessa bring me to your car? Harvey, can you please not appear in front of me? Every time I see you, I feel uncomfortable."
Under the influence of alcohol, Eloise spoke her mind. "Whenever I see you looking so affectionate, it reminds me of you and Joan embracing, and it makes me feel miserable."
She gently closed her eyes. With no strength to run away, she couldn't escape.
Harvey watched her pale face due to drinking, feeling very sorry for her, but he restrained himself.
She didn't uphold his dignity, and she drank with Mr. Jones.
He also held back.
Harvey gently brushed her hair off her forehead and whispered, "Eloise, nothing happened between her and me. Give me another chance. Weren't we happy when we were together?"
Eloise covered her eyes with her hand and laughed. When she laughed, her whole body moved, her body curved, very attractive.
After saying that, she closed her eyes again. Obviously, she was provoking him. Even if Harvey really wanted to, he wouldn't want anything to happen with her at this moment, but he missed her. That full-body stimulation, he kind of missed it too.
He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Eloise, I miss you."
Eloise didn't respond. His confession was like hitting cotton, with no response at all.
Harvey gritted his teeth and drove the car back to his apartment.
When he got out of the car, he thought Eloise would put up a fight, but she was out like a light, probably too many drinks down the hatch.
Harvey's restless heart slowly calmed down. He closed the car door and just stared at her.
He hadn't seen her for a few days, and Eloise had lost a lot of weight. Her face was sharp, her rose-like delicate red lips slightly parted, giving off a silent invitation.
It was only when she was fast asleep that she would let her guard down. Harvey couldn't resist the bait. He leaned in and planted one on her.
Eloise was hammered, tasting a familiar flavor in her dream; she couldn't hold back, hugging the man's neck tight, sharing a passionate kiss with him.
However, it was while she was drunk that she felt the sting. In the midst of the kiss, she slowly realized something was off. She and Harvey were supposed to be kaput, and she had said she wouldn't get back together with him.
Eloise opened her eyes, looking at his handsome and touching face, gently stroking it.
Harvey didn't resist. He let her gently touch his face.
"Eloise, I know you're into me too, I don't believe you could forget all the good times we had."
Eloise looked dazed. She leaned back in her chair, her voice a bit husky from the booze.
"Harvey, why on earth would I be into you?"
