Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 111

Pauline shut the door.

Eloise was still pinned under Harvey.

She pushed him in annoyance and said, "You're doing this on purpose, aren't you!"

"Yeah, so what? You gonna penalize me for it?" Harvey's voice was laced with a hint of seduction.

Eloise looked at the handsome face before her, feeling a flutter of feelings.

But she was worried that Pauline might feel awkward if she saw them like this, so she whispered, "Get up! Your mom is right there!"

Harvey gazed at her deeply, not moving or saying a word.

He lowered his head, planting a light kiss on her, then handed her a file bag.

Eloise sat up.

"What's this?"

As she sat up, Harvey smiled, "Just open it."

Eloise opened it with a puzzled look.

Inside was a "property lease agreement" for a 400-square-meter office space, with an annual rent of $20,000. It also contained a few photos and a key.

Eloise was shocked.

She looked up at him and asked, "Is this your office building? You're renting it to me?"

She knew the market rates. An office space of this size and at such a prime location would cost even $200,000 to rent.

Harvey just nodded slightly.

He wrapped a towel around her slender neck and gave it a tug. Eloise was forced to lift her face. Their foreheads touched, their postures were intimate, and a slight movement would result in a kiss.

Eloise looked at him.

At this moment, she felt his sincerity and respect.

Women always have a soft spot.

As long as he was willing to take a step forward in their relationship, she was willing to take a step, too.

Eloise flushed red, leaned in, and kissed him.

Harvey didn't close his eyes. He watched how Eloise kissed him. Her kissing skills weren't top-notch, but he felt very comfortable.

After the kiss, he gently held her waist and asked softly, "Not mad anymore?"

Eloise didn't answer, but there was a softness in her eyes.

He liked her very much and wanted her very much.

Considering his mother, Harvey didn't do anything excessive. He just whispered, "Let's stop fooling around and go back to how we used to be, okay?"

Harvey was deliberately offering her a golden opportunity. If Eloise refused, it would be too much.

After thinking for a moment, she said, "A $20,000 rent is too little. How about you charge me $50,000 instead."

Harvey didn't argue with her. He just kissed her and went to take a shower. As he opened the bathroom door, he looked back at Eloise, "About my mom…"

Eloise said with deep affection, "As long as Pauline is happy, it's good! If you want me to call her 'mom,' I don't mind. I'd even be happy to call her 'dad'!"

Harvey looked at her for a while before chuckling, "Ms. Laurent, you're quite the smart one."

He was in a good mood when he was taking a shower.

When he came out, Eloise was preparing breakfast with his mother.

Under the morning sun, she looked very gentle and likable.

Harvey could tell that his mother liked Eloise very much, which made him more willing to compromise for Eloise.

Breakfast was a cheerful affair.

Whenever Pauline spoke, she'd casually mention which friend had a new adorable granddaughter. After finishing, she asked Eloise, "Lou, do you like children?"

Eloise was drinking milk and was suddenly choked. Milk splashed onto the tip of her nose.

Harvey helped her wipe it off with a napkin.

Joan was back!?

There was a glint of worry in Pauline's beautiful eyes, "I heard from Griffin that Joan is past her partying days now. She's even engaged to some big shot in the entertainment world. Harvey, I know you're still hung up on the past, but it's all water under the bridge. After all these years, you should let go of your feelings for her! Eloise is a good girl, so don't break her heart."

Harvey's fingers tightened and then relaxed.

A faint smile hung at the corner of his mouth, "Don't worry, Mom. I got it."

"I just don't want you to mess up!" Pauline still seemed worried, "You're handsome and even-tempered. A good catch like you is as rare as a hen's teeth... Harvey, if you really hurt her, I'll be crying on your doorstep every day!"

Harvey gave a light chuckle. Only then did Pauline hop in her car and drive off.

Harvey watched her leave, but instead of heading upstairs, he lit up a few smoke at the bottom of the stairs.

Joan was back.

His eyes seemed slightly red.

How dare she come back?

Due to their similar backgrounds, he and Joan grew up together. He admired Joan for her beauty and passion, respected her boundaries, and hoped to share their most beautiful moments on their wedding night.

On Valentine's Day of the year they graduated from university, he flew for 18 hours to Britain, but when he pushed the apartment door open, he found Joan with another man.

And the apartment floor was littered with their used stuff.

Despite Joan's tears and pleas, promising she wouldn't cheat again, they broke up.

Harvey left the apartment and went upstairs.

His face was stone-cold as he pulled out a small velvet box.

Inside was a diamond ring.

He had intended to propose to Joan that day, but it seemed unnecessary now. He also no longer thought of proposing to any other woman ever since.

Harvey had given up on the idea of marriage even though there were women who were right for him over the years.

However, he never thought of getting hitched again.
