Kevan did not hesitate in picking Larissa up–bridal style. He made sure that his am was pinning her skirt in place to preserve modesty. 

The hall became abuzz with chatter again. 

The guests came over with concern for Larissa’s injury.

“Is she hurt?”

Kevan still ignored everyone. He only asked Larissa, “Where’s your room?” 

Larissa bore the pain as well as she could as she pointed to the stairs. “The second llaor.” 

Keven turned and headed to the stairs. However, he had only made it there hallway when someone stopped him, 

Gary had blocked Kevan with Lewis with him.

“I’ll send her up.” Unlike before, where he had always been accommodating. Kevan denied Gary’s request this time. Kevan circled around 

Lewis and walked away. 

Gary was angry but he could not blow up in front of the quests. He could only watch as Kevan walked further away, leaving nim behind to soothe the confused guests.

Kevan brought Larissa into her room and placed her on the bed. He threw away the pair of luxurious heels studded in diamonds, staring hard at her swollen ankle. His brows were furrowed lightly together. 

“I’m sorry.” His voice was hoarse, and he did his best to control the fear he felt. His guilt was written all over his face.

Kevan froze before slowly lifting his gaze. He stared at her silently, a conflicting emotion showing in his eyes.
