Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo novel Chapter 453

Larissa invited Kevan and Dylan to stay for dinner, but they surprisingly rejected her offer.

"We still have work to do. Maybe next time," Kevan said, before bending down to ruffle Aster's hair with a faint smile on his face. His eyes were filled with gentleness too.

"Goodbye, Aster." His deep voice was light and unexpectedly energizing.

Larissa's heart felt like something had slammed right into it. She hurriedly looked down to hide the panic on her face.

Dylan noticed her actions and tilted his head slightly to one side in pensive thought as he looked at her.

Aster waved at Kevan and said reluctantly, "Goodbye, Uncle Kevan!"

Aster had no appetite, and he only ate a little bit of pasta before putting his spoon down.

"Mommy, I'm full." He watched Larissa timidly and emphasized, "Really, really full."

Although Larissa and Wendy treated him generously, they never allowed him to waste food. He always did well usually, so Larissa naturally did not blame him for today's exception—she would only feel sorry for him.

"In that case, you can stop eating." Larissa poured the remaining pasta from his plate into hers and asked, "Do you want to watch a movie? I'll put on a cartoon for you?"

Aster said happily, "Okay!"

Seeing that he was full of vigor, Larissa let out a faint smile.

"Why did you stop?" Larissa was very surprised.

She had watched this particular cartoon several times with Aster. If she recalled correctly, the cartoon was only halfway through when she left the living room.

Aster's mood was rather low for some reason. "I don't want to watch anymore," he said very quietly.

Larissa sat next to him and asked anxiously, "Do you feel bad? Is that why you stopped?"

Aster shook his head.

"Then why?" Larissa asked again.

Aster pressed his lips tightly together, and his head was lowered as far down as he could let it. This only made Larissa feel more anxious than ever. She cupped his face with both hands and forced him to look up. When she gazed into his eyes, she saw the tears sparkling within them.
