Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo novel Chapter 401

Startled, Larissa almost dropped the shopping bag she was holding.

"Why are you following us?" she demanded, her eyes wide. Larissa raised her voice intentionally to mask the guilt she felt with anger.

"Huh?" In response to her question, Dylan expressed an appropriate amount of astonishment.

Aggrieved, he explained himself, "I'm not following you. I have a friend who lives in this apartment complex, and I'm going to his place for dinner."

Larissa exposed his lie with a straight face. "Aren't you cooking steak for dinner tonight?"

Dylan shrugged and pulled out his hands from his pockets.

Showing her his empty palms, he continued, "Can't you see that I haven't bought anything? There's nothing to eat at home, so I have to have dinner at my friend's place."

Larissa certainly didn't believe him.

She turned around with Aster in tow and tried to leave. "I just remembered that I forgot to buy something."

"Perfect timing," Dylan grinned. "I'll go buy the ingredients I need for dinner."

Exasperated, Larissa halted in her tracks and stood her ground. "That's enough. I'm not going to buy anything, and I don't live in this apartment complex either."

Staring into Dylan's eyes, she demanded, "There's no need to continue pretending. Tell me honestly, why are you following us?"

"I have to escort you home safely," Dylan replied earnestly.

"Fine," Larissa knew she couldn't shake him off, so she decided to let him tag along.

When they arrived at the apartment's main entrance, she said to Dylan, "Thank you. You can go back now."

"Alright." Dylan nodded, but he didn't go home just yet. "You two should head inside first."

Waving at Aster, he said, "Goodbye!"

Day by day, as he grew in height and stature, Larissa realized that she couldn't live without him.

Thanks to Wendy, who had stopped her in time, Larissa was so grateful that she didn't insist on getting her own way. Otherwise, she wouldn't have experienced the happiness she enjoyed right now.

On her first day of work, Larissa was worried about leaving Aster alone at home, so she brought him to the hotel.

It was her first visit to the hotel. Upon arrival, she discovered that the hotel was adjacent to Microworks Corporation's headquarters in Bartham.

"What a coincidence," she thought to herself.

A group of people was waiting for her at the hotel entrance. As soon as Larissa got out of the car, they quickly flocked around her.

"Hello, Ms. Seymour!"

"Welcome, Ms. Seymour!"
