Chapter 16
Ian took the flower from Yvonne’s hand, his eyes a mix of admiration and delight.
“Where did you find this?” he asked, turning his gaze to Yvonne
Yvonne pointed upstairs and replied in a soft, sweet voice, “Brother”
Jeremy’s lan rubbed the vase with his long fingers thoughtfully. Since it’s Jeremy’s, I’ll just claim fairly
Yvonne looked at him confusedly, not quite understanding what claim” meant.
At this moment, tan placed his big hand on her shoulder and patted, looking like he was entrusting her with an important task. “Little one, tell your brother when he’s back that Mr. Holmes took his flowers”
“Okay. Though not knowing why, Yvonne nodded obediently, looking easy to trick.
Her adorable face, combined with a perfect touch of innocent confusion, could easily make fan love his mind.
He felt the flowers seemed even more fragrant, and he was light as a feather.
If it weren’t for a lunch appointment, he wouldn’t have wanted to leave.
Seeing him holding the flowers carefully, Yvonne was very happy.
Before, only Dani liked her flowers, but now there were several more people. She was beyond joyful
Suddenly, she wondered when Dani would come to see her.
Meanwhile, Dani, whom Yvonne was thinking about, was standing outside the Yates family’s villa
The Yates family was similar to the Adler family–both adults were at work during the weekdays, the kids were at school, and only Marian was at home.
A maid knocked on the door to Marian’s room. After a few seconds, the door opened from inside
Marian’s room was very exquisite, with every detail meticulously done. Clearly, a lot of thought and time were put into preparing this beautiful room in advance.
The floor was covered with soft, expensive carpet, and the maid didn’t dare to step in, standing at the door.
“Miss, there’s someone outside who claims to be the head of the orphanage and wants to see you.” the maid reported. Marian had been smiling when she opened the door, but her smile disappeared instantly at the words.
Her eyes turned wary, and her little hand gripping the door tightened. “Is she alone? Are there any other kids with her?” The maid was taken aback, scrutinizing her with unease. A three–year–old reacting so quickly? Isn’t that logic a bit too advanced?‘ she wondered.
She thought back to the scene at the door and shook her head. “No one else, just her.”
Hearing this, Marian loosened her grip on the doorframe. She stepped out of her room and instructed the servant in a very natural, commanding tone. “Let her in.”
The maid left, but a strange feeling kept creeping up.

Chapter 16
When Mr. and Mrs. Yates were home. Marian seemed normal, but as soon as they were out, that intense sense of oddi about her became very strong.
Several servants who had interacted with Marian had also mentioned this in private conversations.
Without further dwelling on it, the maid went to the door and brought Dani in
As Dani entered the living room. Marian stood up from the sofa, giving her a pure, innocent smile. “Dani, did you come to
see me?”
\Dani
Dani smiled calmly, and only started speaking after the maid had poured coffee and left
It began with some simple inquiries. Though impatient, as showed in every little detail, Marian endured and answered
Dani’s eyes darkened. She knew Marian didn’t want to talk much and didn’t beat around the bush, asking. “Marian, did you take Yvonne’s necklace?
Though phrased as a question, her tone was certain.
She had searched everywhere in the orphanage, even the children’s dorms, but couldn’t find Yvonne’s necklace. Yvonne’s necklace was pretty, and many kids wanted to wear it. Afraid it might get lost, Dani had put it in a box for safekeeping
She kept it in her room’s cabinet, but it still went missing a few days ago.
Checking the surveillance, she found only Marian had entered her room in the past three days.
At this, Marian’s heart tightened, and she shook her head nervously. “I didn’t.”
Dani sighed helplessly, extending her hand to Marian. Instead of getting angry, she went on in a gentle tone. “Give it to me, Marian. It’s Yvonne’s. She’ll need it when she grows up to find her birth parents. It’s really important to her.”
But after this heartfelt plea, Marian’s face changed instantly. “Who took her stuff? You’re always biased toward her. I’m now the young lady of the Yates family.
“My parents bought me so many necklaces that one cabinet isn’t enough to contain them. I don’t care about her cheap necklace!”
As she spoke, her eyes kept wandering, appearing very bold at first glance, but her panic was for real.
Dani listened to her quietly, her expression never changing, her voice flat. “If you don’t want it, just give it back to Yvonne.” Marian bit her lip tightly. From Dani’s attitude, she guessed she definitely knew something-
But that shouldn’t be the case. No one saw her steal the necklace.
Marian knew the orphanage like the back of her hand. She knew where the cameras were and where they couldn’t see. She was clear about everything.
So, she decided to trust herself and keep denying it. “I said I didn’t take her stuff. You just like Yvonne more, so you suspect
As she spoke, she got angrier, complaining. “I’m now the daughter of the Yates family. Have you thought about what would happen if my parents heard these words? They’d think I’m a bad kid, and you’ve never considered me!”
Hearing this, Dani rubbed her temples, her eyes showing complete disappointment.
Chapter 16
If she wanted to expose Marian, she wouldn’t have talked to her privately. After all, she raised Marian. And it was partly her responsibility for Marian to become like this.
Therefore, she didn’t get angry but instead spoke to Marian more gently.
“You’re all my children, and of course, I care about your future. I absolutely won’t tell Mr. and Mrs. Yates about this. As long as you return the necklace to Yvonne, I promise never to bother you again.”
But Marian bit her lip. glaring at Dani with her red eyes. “I said I didn’t! If you can’t prove it was me, you’re slandering”
At the sight of her stubborn and unrepentant expression. Dani’s heart sank gradually.
“On the day Mr. Yates came to pick up Yvonne, you tricked her into the coal shed, right? This was all caught on camera. If you don’t want Mr. Yates to see these videos, give the necklace back to Yvonne!”
