Artemis' words came to an abrupt halt.
Oh boy... He really knew how to touch a sore spot.
With all the messed-up things that Justin did, wasn't it Veronique the one who bore the brunt of it all?
Who was Veronique?
She was Bailey's best friend.
In the end, the score was going to land on him again.
Oh, what on earth did I do in my past life to deserve knowing such a large group of worthless buddies in this life. I'd rather not have not met anyone of them.
But to everyone's surprise, Bailey didn't get angry. She simply hummed in acknowledgement and said indifferently, “Pick me up tomorrow morning. I'll go to the wedding with you.”
After she finished speaking, she didn't even give him time to respond. She simply reached out and slammed the door shut.
A resounding 'bang' followed.
Artemis stared at the tightly closed door in front of him, and his mouth twitched fiercely. Oh no, why am I so stupid?
How can I say she's not angry?
Clearly, she was so upset that she took her anger out on the door.
Huh.... He truly felt that he was unlucky, having ended up with a bunch of good-for-nothings.
...
The next day.
The “wedding” of Justin and Scarlett took place at the Century Hotel in Hallsbay.
Given that one came from a family steeped in medical tradition and the other hailed from a high-ranking political family, this wedding banquet was unprecedented in its grandeur.
However, Justin didn't inform his buddies. In his view, today's wedding banquet was merely a formality and it was impossible for it to have a good ending.
Official Residence.
Inside the bride's resting room.
Scarlett sat in front of the dressing table, quietly gazing at the reflection mirrored back at her.
Today, she was beautiful, just as she had imagined herself to be.
Yet, there wasn't a hint of joy on her face.
At two o'clock this morning, she received a message from a top-notch detective. The message stated that Veronique was not dead.
Indeed, Veronique didn't die.
When she heard the news, she was utterly shocked.
Consequently, she tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep.
What did it mean if Veronique didn't die?
It implied that Sean's wedding with her was nothing more than a farce. Even worse, it was a trap akin to a feast full of traps.
Once she entered the banquet hall today, there will be no turning back.
How could that wretch still be alive? She clearly had late-stage cancer and even went through a lot of trouble because of it.
In the international medical community, it is understood that patients with cancer cells spread throughout their organs simply cannot survive.
Could it be that Bailey really has the power to bring the dead back to life?
Sitting in this lounge, Scarlett felt a chill running through her body.
Today's wedding was a trap. If she went in, there would be doomed eternally.
But she just couldn't bear to give it up.
The wedding banquet was attended by some of the most prominent figures. Such a grand event would never happen again.
So no matter what, she had to hold on tightly. If she couldn't win Justin over today, there would never be another chance in the future.
She didn't know what Justin had prepared for the wedding banquet, but her intuition told her it was definitely not something good.
If she didn't stabilize the situation, she was bound to fail miserably.
She must counter him before he made his move. Only in this way could she find a glimmer of hope in the direst of situations, and fought for that glimmer of chance for herself.
Ding!
The phone on the desk started ringing. She quickly reached out to pick it up, swiping to answer the call.
“How's it going? Is everything running smoothly?”
Seeing him getting jealous again, Bailey couldn't help but roll her eyes at him.
The two of them arrived at a rest area led by a black-clad bodyguard.
“Mr. Luther, Ms. Jefferson, Mr. Raiden is waiting for you inside.”
Bailey nodded, reaching out to push the door open directly.
“Today is your sister's wedding, isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to be hiding here instead of attending to the guests outside?”
Raiden stood by the window, hands clasped behind his back. Upon hearing her voice, he slowly turned around.
His gaze was as audacious as ever, falling directly onto Bailey.
Artemis raised his eyebrows, taking a step forward to stand in front of Bailey.
“What advice do you have for us, Mr. Raiden? You've asked both my wife and I to come over.”
Raiden scoffed coldly, automatically ignoring his question. Responding to Bailey's previous statement, he said, “It's just a show for the occasion, not a real wedding. Why take it so seriously?”
Bailey rolled his eyes, then pulled Artemis to find a place to sit down.
“Speak up. What do you have for us?”
Raiden paced over and sat down opposite the two, nodding his head as he said, “A new organization has recently emerged in Zaewora, led by someone named Black Puma.”
“I've been assigned a mission. They want me to thoroughly investigate this power and then find a way to dismantle it.”
Artemis raised an eyebrow and smiled.
Bailey smiled too.
It seemed that the power in Zaewora was indeed growing quite rapidly, so much so that it had caught the attention of the president.
“What are you laughing at?” Raiden asked, somewhat puzzled.
With a sly glance and a smirk, Bailey looked at him and retorted, “You called us here because you want us to activate Tarragon and the Saviors to help you investigate this organization, right?
“I'm really curious. How could a great nation like Chanaea be afraid of a lowly underground organization? What earth-shattering deed have they done to put you all on high alert?”
Raiden, with his handsome face taut, gritted his teeth and said word by word, “Drugs. This organization has continuously smuggles drugs to the border of Chanaea.”
“If we don't intervene, countless families will be torn apart. Do you understand?”
