Lily picked up the phone, glanced at it, and rejected the call to continue eating. It rang again soon after, but she rejected it again. This repeated several times.

"Well, that's annoying. Ill teach them a lesson for you if you want," Alexander noticed his wife's impatient expression and said half-jokingly. He wanted to answer on her behalf when the phone rang again.

Lily shrugged, stood up, and cleared the dishes. She was already full and had no appetite to continue eating.

“Leave it. I'll do the dishes,” Alexander said.

Lily did not listen to him this time. She brought all the dishes to the kitchen with him and placed them into the dishwasher. The phone in the living room was still ringing. She looked at it but did not bother to acknowledge it.
