Meanwhile, on Ruby’s side. When Diamond was busy dealing with meetings, she was busy with something else completely during the day.
When lunch was nearing, she received a message from the lawyer that Kiara had referred to her.
They had made an appointment to meet at lunch.
There were several restaurants close to the university.
Once the bell rang, signifying the end of the lecture, Ruby hurriedly packed her belongings, ready to leave.
As she was packing, she caught the attention of her few friends in class.
"Ruby, do you have an emergency?" one of them asked.
Ruby shook and nodded her head, confusing the friends in return.
"You ...."
Seeing what she had done, Ruby burst into a peal of laughter and answered, "It’s not exactly an emergency. I made an appointment with someone," revealing a bit of the truth.
When the friends heard that, they looked at her with a knowing gaze, making Ruby chuckle helplessly as she zipped her bag.
"I will see you later in the next class. I have to go!" she said, her tone sounding urgent and without waiting for her friends to respond, she dashed out of the hall.
Seeing her like that, they looked at each other, curiosity visible in their eyes.
"What kind of appointment do you think she has?"
"It can’t be her sister, right?"
"Impossible!"
"Anyway, what does it matter? Let’s go and eat. I am starving."
Ruby had no idea of what her friends were saying. All she could think about was meeting with the lawyer.
On her way to the restaurant, she met a few students who called out to her, and she responded warmly to them, though she didn’t bother to stop and entertain them.
As for what they thought, what did it have to do with her?
Thankfully, the restaurant was very near and with a car; it didn’t take that long.
When she arrived, Ruby looked around the restaurant, which was half full, and quickly found the person that she was looking for.
When she saw him, a smile appeared on her face as she thought to herself, ’What a handsome man!’
Just like Diamond, she was a sucker for people with beautiful and handsome faces. Who didn’t like seeing pleasing things or people?
After spotting the person that she wanted, Ruby walked calmly towards the table. The lawyer was occupying the table by himself, which was good.
When he spotted her, he froze for a bit. Despite having seen her photo several times, seeing the person in person was different. He couldn’t help but be taken aback by her beauty.
’The family is blessed with beautiful girls!’ he couldn’t help but praise inwardly as he thought of Diamond and Garnet, the Perry sisters.
He rose to his feet to welcome her, with a polite smile on his face. He didn’t dare show an extravagant reaction that wouldn’t dwell well with his profession.
Ruby’s eyes squinted as she scanned the lawyer from head to toe as she approached him.
Once they were close to each other, the lawyer’s voice, which suited his face, sounded in her ears, "Hello, Ms. Ruby," as he greeted her while stretching his hand towards her.
Hearing such a voice, Ruby’s liking for the lawyer increased without him doing anything.
"Hello, Mr. Gary. Thank you for meeting me," she responded as she stretched her hand towards him for a handshake.
