Without feeling too burdened, she responded to her mother after hearing her side of the story, "I admit that at some point, I blamed you and Dad and hated Diamond a lot. After all, it wasn’t fair the way you treated us. But I grew up, Mom. So, I understand. Besides, are we not living well now? Why should I remain sour?"
[Haha, thank you for saying that. I am glad that we talked this out.]
"Um, just don’t ask her. Knowing her, the way she said that, she was in some way addressing us. There is no way she would want to repeat those words again to you. You know how much she loves you and cares for you. No daughter would want her parents to know such a side of her!" Ruby said in a reminder, recalling how furious Diamond was when she talked about how the netizens were, including her family, in the fray.
[I know. Which is why I called you. I am afraid ... I .... It’s good that I know the full picture now.]
"Just trust her. She is stronger than you think!"
[She is indeed, otherwise she wouldn’t have kept this as a secret for so many years. Who knew how much she was suffering on her own?]
Ruby thought about it as well. Her body shivered, goosebumps appearing on her skin.
"Let’s not think about it. Is everything well on that side? No one is harassing you?"
[The guards are being useful. Besides, people are just sour, so it’s understandable. And with the explanation, I doubt that anyone will cause any trouble!]
"I hope that they won’t. They wouldn’t want to face her wrath! I have seen a lot of accounts getting deleted already. Sister wasn’t joking!"
[I wouldn’t joke if it was me as well.]
Ruby chatted with her mother for a while before they finally ended the call.
Sighing as she recalled the conversation, a smile suddenly blossomed on her face.
She had talked with Diamond before but never had she had such a conversation with her mother.
It was very thrilling and refreshing to her. At least it went well. Her mother could now be reassured.
After calming her mind, she returned inside, where Jackie was busy typing furiously on her phone.
Seeing her like that, Ruby couldn’t help but wonder what was going on with her. So, she didn’t hesitate but ask as she sat down, joining Jackie.
"Who angered you?"
Jackie gritted her teeth as she raised her head to look at Ruby and answered, her eyes filled with fury, "I can’t believe that useless sophomore gang. Can you believe that they actually created a group and have been dissing you left and right? Who are they to attack others like that?"
Upon hearing that, Ruby froze for a second before she burst into laughter.
"Haha, ignore them. They are just sour. Since they lost to me, now they are trying to use this incident to tarnish my name. Humph. Do they think that by doing so, things will change?" Ruby harrumphed at the thought of those crazy seniors.
"But ...."
"Just leave them. If they get unlucky, my sister will deal with them. And if they are lucky, then I will deal with them myself. Didn’t they try to warn me against joining the Fresh competition? I will be participating. I am going to join and make sure to win it! Do you want to play games with me? You are way too young to do so with me!" Ruby sneered as her eyes narrowed into slits, emitting a dangerous vibe.
It’s been one week since she started school and yet it felt as if it’s been years since she was there.
From the day she arrived at school, Ruby’s popularity was way higher compared to the campus’s belles.
