[Ding! Do you want to sign in?]
’Um. Sign in!’ Diamond instructed as she rummaged through her closet, looking for an outfit to wear for the fireworks display an hour later that night.
[Ding! You have been rewarded with A$1,000,000. The money is to be credited to your main account.]
’Oh! That’s new!’ she stopped in her tracks in surprise.
It’s been a very long time since she received any monetary reward, so it was a bit surprising.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like the reward. In fact, she loved it so much that she would be a fool to not love money for free.
{Mom! One million has been credited to your account!} As she was in the middle of thinking, Andrea informed her.
"Okay, dear."
{Should I send the money to the lucky winners now? the event just ended.} Andrea asked for permission.
"Um. Send it and make sure it’s done before the year’s end," she smilingly responded.
She didn’t want to enter 2079 with debts following her.
{I will start working on it.}
With that issue done and her daily signing reward claimed, Diamond resumed rummaging for an outfit and after a while, she finally found something appropriate.
It was a bit hot, but at the same time, the mosquitoes were singing so loudly outside that anything was capable of happening.
Diamond didn’t think that she would be bitten by them, but she didn’t want to test their patience and become a guinea pig. So, she decided to prevent any mishap from happening.
So, she picked a magenta jumpsuit from the rack and paired it with flat shoes, since she would be standing and walking for a long time.
She applied a bit of makeup, which was basically some eye shadows and lipstick, to make herself brighter.
She found a small bag, which she packed with her belongings, before leaving the bedroom. She found Kian waiting for her in the passage and the two of them happily went together downstairs.
Diamond, Kian, and Ruby were planning to go out while the adults decided to stay at home.
They didn’t want to compete with the youngsters, so the three were left to their own devices.
Ruby didn’t want to be a third wheel and a light bulb, so she set a meeting with her group of friends to enjoy the town’s firework display, which happens only once every year.
It was a popular event that every youngster loved going to, so how could they miss it?
However, as she promised her parents, Ruby would return home with Diamond and not remain by herself or her friends once everything was over.
Ruby was very determined to spend time with her friends, so she agreed.
There was no need for Ruby to pick up her friends, as the public transport would be operating throughout the night, so there wouldn’t be a shortage of any sort.
Besides, one of her friend’s family owned a car, so the girls could be brought by car if they wanted.
All they had to do was to meet at the destination and have some fun.
Diamond drove her SUV since she liked it and it felt much safer, especially at night.
On the way, the three of them talked, joked and had fun. The drive was very peaceful and no uneventful circumstances happened.
The traffic police were all over the roads, maintaining peace and order and doing their best to prevent any accidents from happening.
No one wanted to see a life being claimed, though it was always unavoidable.
The three managed to arrive before the display started, despite having parking issues. There were too many cars around, so it was difficult to find an appropriate place to park.
The moment Ruby arrived; she immediately bade the couple goodbye before rushing to meet her friends.
Diamond chuckled lightly, seeing how eager Ruby was to meet her friends.
Kian never asked about Diamond’s friends. He had this inkling that she was a lone wolf and didn’t have a lot of friends.
He didn’t want to poke the hornets’ nests by asking what he shouldn’t. besides after seeing how horrible her past friends were, he doubted if she would have any genuine friends around her.
"Let’s stroll around and find a place to watch the fireworks later!" Diamond suggested as she stretched her hand towards Kian.
The masked Kian smiled at Diamond, his eyes twinkling as he caught her hand with his.
"Um. Let’s enjoy the night!"
Diamond smiled back at Kian, though her face couldn’t be clearly seen, as she was also wearing a mask.
The couple just wanted to have a peaceful night, just the two of them. If they were to walk around without the masks, that would be deadly, and they both didn’t want it.
