Chapter 79
The thick air is Central Plaza was filled with tension, the remnants of last night’s halle pill lingering in the atmosphere. A large tent dood da focal point for the soldiers who gathered outside As I approached, their eyes turned towards nie –awed, almost reverent,
One of them rushed forward and sited the lap of the tent for me
“Gamma Elara, that was an amazing fight he said, his enthusiasm undeniable,
“Thank you,” I replied, offering a smile, though the weight of everything still sat heavily on my chest.
“Alpha Thorne’s waiting for you inside, the soldier continued, stepping aside.
Inodded and entered the tent.
Thorne stood in the middle of the room, wiping away blood from his clothes with a towel. He turned abruptly as entered, his eyes locking onto mine, intense and unreadable.
For a long moment, neither of us moved. The silence was thick with unspoken things. Then, without warning, he tossed the towel aside and strode towards me, pulling me into his arms with an urgency that took me by surprise.
His heartbeat was fast, frantic almost, and I could feel the tremor in his hands as they rested on my back.
“What’s going on?” Lasked, breaking the silence that hung between us.
Thorne didn’t answer right away. Instead, he buried his face in my hair, inhaling deeply, his grip tightening around me.
“I was afraid of losing you,” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion.
I pulled back slightly, my brow furrowed. “Are you serious? I’m right here, sale and sound. Why would you think otherwise?”
“This is the first time I’ve seen you on the battlefield,” he said, his words coming out in a rush.“I know you’re strong, but when that rogue came for you My heart nearly stopped. I couldn’t help but think… What would have happened if I’d been a minute too late?”
His arms tightened around me, pulling me in closer, and I could hardly breathe, but I didn’t care. My heart swelled in my chest, overwhelmed by the rawness in his voice.
For the first time, I saw it. Thorne wasn’t the cold, composed Alpha I had always known. He was afraid.

But-
I placed a hand on his chest, feeling the rapid rhythm of his heart under my palm. “Even if you hadn’t made it, I would still be alright. I’m a Gamma, remember? I’ve proven myself out there. You can trust me with your back, just like I trust you with mine.”
He pulled back slowly, his gaze intense as he cupped my face with his hands. His thumb gently brushed over my cheek as he looked deep into my eyes.
“Always,” he murmured, his voice low. ” trust you. With my e
My heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, everything else faded into the background. My mouth went dry, and the room felt warmer, as if the air itself had thickened between us
We were standing so close now, inches apart, our faces so near I could feel the heat radiating from him. The tension was palpable
I couldn’t help but close my eyes, my heart thundering in my chest as I tied my face toward him, breathless, waiting.

Then, just as our lips were about to meet….
“Alpha Thome? That was a belt of ;
The sudden voice cut through the at like a blade, and in an instant, we pulled apart, our moment shattered, I could barely register
the door to the tent swung open, and Roman, Theo, Triss, and Bey walked in. They all fire in the doorway, wide eyed at the sight of us.
Thorne cleared his throat and dropped his hands from my face, his expression thitting back into something more guarded.
“No need to leave. Come in,” he said, voice more businesslike than before, though I could hear the edge in it.
I could feel my cheeks burn with embarrassment. It was like being caught in a moment you weren’t supposed to be having, as if my parents had a in on me and my high school boyfriend.
The guys took their seats, still looking between Thome and me with knowing smirks, but Thome quickly cleared his throat again and focused on the
matter at hand
“Last night was a good fight, Great work, everyone,” Thome said, his tone now cool and controlled. “But before you head off forest, I want to go ov few things. I know you all have questions”
The five of them exchanged glances, waiting for Thorne to continue.
“I’ll start,” Theo spoke up, leaning forward in his seat. “My team and I were posted outside the East Gate. Around 3AM, we heard fighting from the north
“That was me,” Bex said, his tone casual. “I hit the North Gate hard. The rogues came back at us like they were trying to reclaim ground. If it weren’t for Alpha Thorne and Gamma Elara, we would’ve been overrun.”
“But here’s the thing.” Triss chimed in. “I didn’t see any resistance at the South Gate. It was clear.”
“Same here,” Roman added, nodding. “No one even tried to stop us at the West Gate”
Theo raised an eyebrow. “So, all the rogues were concentrated at the North Gate?”
“It seems that way,” I said, keeping my voice steady, despite the nagging unease crawling up my spine.
Bex shrugged nonchalantly. “Well, lucky for us, right? The other three gates were wide open, and we just waltzed right in. Pretty easy to take down Crimson Fort now.”
The others chuckled, but I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that Something didn’t add up. My gaze met There’s, and I saw the same doubt flickering in his eyes.
“So, did anyone actually see the Rogue King?” Thorne asked, his voice tight
Triss shook his head. “No. I tried questioning a rogue, but he didn’t know who the Rogue King was. Not sure if he was lying”
“He wasn’t lying,” interjected, my voice colder than I intended. I could feel the truth setting in my bones. “The Rogue King has been hiding behind his men, giving orders through Sterning. He’s clever. Even after this battle, we still have no clue where our true enemy is.”
The room grew still, the silence thick with the weight of the unknown.
Roman stretched, trying to lighten the mood. “Wey, we don’t know who the Rogue King is, but we did win a big battle and saved a lot of people in Crimson Fort. We deserve to celebrate! What do you say we crack open some beers and let loose?”
Bex grinned. “I’m all in for that.”
But just as the room seemed to settle, Thorne raised his hand, silencing the group
