After the call ended, Caroline told Liberty, “Speak of the devil. You asked me when my mom would be coming back earlier. Darren just told me that she had just arrived at the airport.

“She doesn’t trust any of her four children. She didn’t tell any of us that she was coming back.”

Caroline sounded like she was mocking herself.

She thought her mother was living a tiring life, not even trusting her own children.

However, Caroline thought it was normal, considering that she was not entirely on her mother’s side either.

Liberty said, “She must’ve left because she wanted to verify some information she received. Since she had failed to do so and you guys didn’t fall for her trap, she came back.

“Maybe she wanted to surprise you all by keeping her return a secret.”

Liberty stood. “I thought I’d treat you to a meal, but since you’re going to have dinner with Mr. Fletcher, I shall not be a third-wheeler. Why don’t you two share a meal over a romantic candlelight?”
