Nathan smiled and without replying to Penny.
At this moment, his phone rang. It was a call from Colin Dunne.
Usually, Colin would never call and disturb Nathan if there wasn't anything serious.
Nathan frowned and picked up the call, "What's up?"
Colin's respectful voice came from the other end of the line, "Master, the governor Patrick Ward has arrived for ground inspection. Knowing you're in Channing, he has requested to meet with you. Would you be available to meet with him?”
Patrick Ward was the governor, so he was considered someone very important.
But Nathan replied indifferently, "I'm not free!"
"Very well," answered Colin.
Nathan was going to hang up when he suddenly thought of something and
changed his mind. "Wait!"
Colin was startled. "Is there anything else you need, Master?"
Nathan narrowed his eyes and said, "I've decided to meet with him. Inform Patrick Ward and Russell Crow that I will be treating them to a meal.”
"Yes, sir," answered Colin.
Nathan treated Patrick and Russell to a meal at Cloud Palace, which was located on the highest level of the Axis of Channing.
Thomas Dunn, the boss of Cloud Palace, was so bowled over by their presence that he closed his restaurant to other customers for the day and only served Nathan, the governor and the mayor.
Inside the private room, a few dishes of delectable food were laid out on the table.
There weren't many dishes, but each of them was prepared to perfection. The taste of each dish was of the highest
quality.
The drinks were contained inside an ordinary bottles with four words printed on them that stood out particularly: [North Army Special Wine],
Today, Nathan was the one treating the Mayor, Russell Crow and the Governor, Patrick Ward to a meal.
Only when Russell and Colin heard this did they realize the reason behind Patrick's visit to Channing.
Patrick's face was filled with embarrassment. He laughed dryly and said, "Haha, I knew that I can't hide anything from the General!"
Nathan smiled and made a toast with Patrick and Russell.
The wine was North Army's Special Wine. It was of the highest quality, but it also had a very high alcohol content.
Patrick had just gulped a glass of it down when he felt his stomach was on fire. His face flushed a deep red and sweat rained down his forehead as he shouted in exhilaration, "General, your wine is really strong! It's great!"
Nathan laughed. "It's cold in the North and it's winter there most of the time. Thus the entire North Army likes strong wine. Oh and Ward, I've already called you Ward, so you should call me Cross too. It feels strange to address me by my rank.”
Hearing Nathan say that he didn't want to him to stand on ceremony, Patrick thought that this meant that he wanted them to be friends.
It would be such an honor to be friends with the General!
But Patrick wasn't stupid. He didn't dare to call Nathan as just 'Cross', so he said in a knowing way, "Alright, then I'll call you as Master Cross."
As Nathan had seen through his intentions, Patrick decided to lay all his cards on the table. "Master Cross, other than my admiration for you, I'm here today to see if I can become a peacemaker between you and Dip Turner and try to resolve your conflict."
