Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2845

Nathan asked in a low voice, “What happened?”

Colin covered the phone with his hand and whispered, “The Peacekeeping Forces sent a message earlier saying that they were ambushed when they were escorting Ava back. The team that was with her is all dead, and she's gone missing.”

Nathan's expression darkened at the news.

Colin continued, “I was just trying to find out who did this when the culprit called me.”

Hearing that, Nathan's gaze fell on the phone in Colin's hand.

Colin added, “That's right. The culprit's on the line right now. He's saying that Ava's still alive, and that he wants to talk to you.”

Nathan frowned.

Standing aside, Mueller watched how Colin kept whispering to Nathan, and how the latter's face was darkening by the second.

Worried, he asked, “Mr. Cross, is there something wrong?”

Nathan shook his head. “No. Please excuse me for a moment.”

With that, he left with Colin and walked toward a quiet spot in the corridor.

He then took the phone from Colin's hand, put it to his ear, and uttered coldly, “Hello?”

A snicker sounded from the other end of the line. “Nathan, is that you?”

Nathan replied coolly, “Who are you?”

The man on the line chuckled again. “My name's Antonio. As for who I am... you don't need to know about that.”

I already gave Nathan a warning while Antonio was on a call with him earlier. I even asked him not to come to rescue me. I'm sure he will do the right thing by not taking the risk. He's now the president of Eurasia, after all. His life is much more precious than mine.

At the moment, Ava felt content. As long as I can foil these vampires' plan and keep Nathan safe, I'll die with no regrets.

Meanwhile, Antonio turned around to glare at Gianna, Kaiser, and his other subordinates for the mishap. It was obvious he was blaming them for not keeping a good watch over Ava, causing her to run her mouth, giving Nathan a warning.

He could hear Nathan screaming out for Ava's name on the other end of the call, so he uttered coldly, “Don't worry. She’s still alive... for now. Remember what I told you. If I don't see you here alone at the stroke of midnight, or if I see someone coming in your stead, all you'll get is Ava's shriveled-up corpse.”

Nathan spat icily, “I swear on my life that you'll pay dearly for your actions today. But if you let her go now, I might consider giving you an easy death.”

Antonio sniggered at that. “And I'm telling you that nothing good will come out of pissing me off. Anyway, I'll be here, looking forward to your timely arrival.”

With that, he ended the call.
