Catherine and Morse were still grappling with the fact that they were almost killed by the werewolves.
Nonetheless, Catherine thought that Eagleland owed Nathan, the President of Eurasia, an explanation for what appeared to be a mass attack on him by the pack of werewolves.
She discussed the matter with Morse, and they both decided to request an audience with Annie. They would appeal for Annie to carry out a wipeout of werewolves in Eagleland to teach the werewolves a lesson, as well as a means to provide a plausible explanation to Nathan for what had transpired.
They arrived at the palace and requested an audience with the Queen.
Surprisingly, Annie was still up. She was welcoming an honored guest in her lavish living hall.
The guest was a Five-star General from Ariarica, Max.
When Catherine and Morse followed the guards into the living hall, Annie was having coffee with Max.
Catherine's eyes flashed with a glint of surprise.
She had a hunch that the large group of werewolves' attack on Nathan had something to do with Max.
“Greetings, Your Majesty.”
Both Catherine and Morse bobbed a curtsy to Annie.
Annie replied with a smile, “What brings the two of you here? Let me introduce you guys. This is my good friend, a Five-star General of Ariarica, Admiral Max. I believe you two should recognize him.”
Max's eyes crinkled into a smile. “I am well acquainted with Ms. Catherine. Our countries have been working together closely, and we meet quite often. As for Mr. Morse, I've long known him from his frequent appearances on the news.”
Catherine and Morse greeted Max politely.
Annie smiled and gestured for both Catherine and Morse to take a seat. Then, she casually asked, “What brings the two of you here at this hour?”
Morse was an impulsive man. He shot up from his seat and reported, “Your Majesty, it so happened that...”
Annie snapped, “Are you telling me what to do?”
Morse lowered his head anxiously.
“No, of course not.”
“Catherine, Morse, the two of you need not concern yourselves with this any longer,” Annie said.
Since the Queen had ordered them to do so, there was nothing else they could do.
The two of them could only reply, “Yes.”
“You are both dismissed,” Annie said with a wave of her hand.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” they said in unison before they retreated.
