Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2741

Ava soon returned with a few bottles of mineral water in her hands.

“I've checked the water. It's safe to consume,” she whispered while handing them out to Nathan and Penny.

Nathan simply nodded at her in response.

Colin and Ava always do a good job at ensuring our safety when we're out and about, so I have no need to worry.

The look of hostility in Donovan's eyes intensified when he saw Ava serving Nathan.

The auction had started by then with an antique vase from ancient times.

Due to its huge popularity among antique collectors, countless Eurasians present at the scene started making their bids.

As Nathan's main priority was simply to ensure that the Eurasian treasures were returned to the country, he chose not to participate in the bid when he saw other Eurasians going for it.

It wasn't long before the antique vase was sold to a Eurasian man in his sixties.

The old man's face was filled with excitement after he successfully secured his prize.

Donovan continued to glare at Nathan from the side as the auction went on.

Because Nathan hadn't made a single bid, Donovan firmly believed that he wasn't wealthy at all.

I bet he's just here to broaden his horizon by watching the auction like Ambassador Knight! If he's not rich, then it'll be a lot easier for me to assert my dominance'.

A smile formed on Donovan's face at the thought of that.

Countless precious artworks had been up for bidding as the auction went on, but Nathan had yet to place a single bid.

When the auction reached its peak, Ava handed Nathan and Penny a brochure and whispered, “Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross, the imperial jade seal will be up next.”

Both Nathan's and Penny's eyes lit up with excitement when they heard that. The imperial jade seal was exactly what they had come to the auction for.

“The imperial jade seal is an extremely meaningful artifact for Eurasia! Whoever is successful in acquiring it tonight will surely be viewed as a hero among Eurasians!” Carlos exclaimed excitedly.

Ava nodded. “Yeah! Anyone who brings it back to the country will pretty much be seen as a national hero!”

Since the artifact would still be returned to Eurasia as long as a Eurasian acquired it at the auction, Nathan wouldn't necessarily have to bid for it.

However, that wasn't how Donovan perceived the message.

Eager to show off and impress Ava, he was grinning from ear to ear after hearing what she said.

Hehe... This is my chance! If I buy this jade seal, Ava is bound to view me as a hero! Bedding her will be a piece of cake then!

Donovan got really excited at the thought of that and looked forward to getting his hands on the imperial jade seal.

A foreign woman wearing a Eurasian dress then introduced the upcoming artifact in both languages.

Looks like he's determined to acquire this artifact! Is there anyone else here who would like to raise the bid?” she announced excitedly while pointing at Donovan.

Donovan had assumed that no one else would be willing to pay over a hundred million for the artifact, only to hear someone say lazily, “I'll pay a hundred and ten million!”

What?

Donovan frowned as he glanced in the direction of the voice and saw a beautiful Eaglelandian noblewoman sitting in a corner.

The one who spoke up was most probably the classy-looking gentleman sitting next to her.

Donovan felt he had seen the noblewoman before but couldn't quite remember where.

D*mn those two! How dare they try to steal my spotlight? He glared at them. Nathan, too, felt a little surprised when he saw that the noblewoman was none other than Catherine, the Duchess of Eagleland.

The gentleman sitting next to her was an earl named “Morse.”

Being one of Catherine's suitors, Morse had attended the auction with her. However, he got jealous and angry when he noticed Catherine staring at Nathan from time to time.

Since he was an anti-Eurasian, he had always viewed Nathan as an enemy.

As such, he decided to cause trouble when he found out that Nathan was after the imperial jade seal.

Morse was determined to prevent the Eurasians from taking the imperial jade seal back with them.
