For the next few days, the Smith family busied themselves preparing for Penny's birthday banquet.
On the day of her birthday, Sean instructed everyone to clean the Smith family manor until it was spotless.
With the manor looking immaculate, a famous chef was then invited over to prepare dinner.
As the chef began cooking, mouthwatering dishes were soon served on the table.
At the same time, Sean personally oversaw the arrangement of tables in the courtyard. Given the immense size of the manor's gardens, it could host fifty tables.
While everyone was busy preparing for the banquet, a group of uninvited guests appeared out of nowhere.
The leader of the group was dressed in a sleek black suit, with two tall and stoic-faced men following closely behind. Furthermore, there was a large group of subordinates behind the trio.
These uninvited guests weren't mere strangers. They were none other than Jett, Kit, Irvin, and some thugs that were specially hired by Jett for this occasion.
The moment Jett made his entrance, he opened the briefcase in his hand and activated the signal blocker within it. Immediately, all signals and communication tools around the Smith family manor were disabled.
Without another word, Jett's subordinates leaped into action. They quickly closed the gates and left some of their men to keep watch at the back door. This way, no one could leave the Smith family manor.
Sean and the rest were utterly stunned by Jett's appearance.
“Who are you guys?” Sean roared after he regained his senses.
In a fit of rage, Samuel and Paul stormed forward, ready to interrogate Jett for his actions.
However, as soon as they were within Jett's striking range, he launched two punches against them. Bang!
Bang! His fist collided against their faces. His merciless punches left the duo's faces splattered in blood.
Piercing screams filled the air when the other guests witnessed Jett's attack.
“Dad!” Ferlyn shrieked as she rushed forward.
Before she could reach her father, Jett blocked her path as the corners of his lips lifted into a cold smile. “You look quite pretty. In fact, you remind me of Penny. Are you Penny's sister? If you choose to side with me and serve me dutifully, I might spare your life.”
At that moment, two of the Smith family's guards rushed forward.
“How dare you hit Mr. Samuel and Mr. Paul? You even had the audacity to insult Ms. Ferlyn. How insolent!” Without hesitation, the two guards leaped into the fray, ready to teach
A dark expression loomed across Sean's face. Yet, his experience allowed him to keep his composure.
He took a deep breath and asked in a somber tone, “Who are you? How dare you barge into the Smith family manor? Don't you know that Nathan's my grandson-in-law? This isn't a place where you can trespass as you please.”
Instead of offering a reply, Jett looked at the tables all across the courtyard. Casually, he took a seat before glancing at the wine pitcher.
Promptly, Jett's cold gaze slid over to Ferlyn, who was trembling in fear.
Jett's pointed glare scared Ferlyn out of her wits. At the same time, she quickly caught onto his intentions. In haste, she poured him a glass of wine.
Jett accepted the glass with his uninjured left hand. “I must admit, you have quick wits. I'll leave you in charge of pouring my drinks today,” he remarked with a grin.
With that, Jett took a sip of the wine and savored its taste before shifting his attention to Sean. “There's no need to threaten me by bringing up your grandson-in-law. I'm here today to kill Nathan to avenge Mr. Quillen. It'd be in your best interests to cooperate, or you might meet the same fate,” he stated icily.
What? They are all here with the sole intention of killing Nathan?
This unexpected news left Sean and the rest dumbstruck.
