Cayden left with Leroy after the Chief Military Governor had agreed to punish the wrongdoers. They mistook the situation and assumed that Nathan would be punished, so they left with a smile.
On the way back, Cayden gave Leroy some instructions. “Drop by the hospital later to visit Matias and the others. Tell everyone how the Chief Military Governor has agreed to help them out and will punish Nathan. I think they have been upset about the matter for a few days now, so they will surely be delighted to hear the news.” Leroy grinned and replied, “I will also tell them how you personally asked for the Chief Military Governor to punish Nathan Cross. That way, they wouldn’t just be thankful to the Chief Military Governor. They would appreciate your help as well.”
Cayden shot an approving look at Leroy.
They were operating based on a saying that soldiers must be treasured every day, whereas generals must be spoiled at every moment. That was the only way to convince subordinates to fight for their boss when the crucial moment came.
Leroy dropped Cayden back at home before he took some subordinates to get some gifts together. After that, they went to the hospital to visit Matias and the others.
Nathan had left the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor by then, and he made his way to the Windsor residence.
Hansel and Camilla had been calling him lately and had invited him to join them for a meal.
Their biological son had passed away and their niece, whom they had treated as their daughter, committed suicide as well.
Since Hansel and Camilla were both getting older, it was only natural that they'd feel lonely.
They had always treated Nathan as though he were their son, so whenever Nathan was in town, they would cook a feast and invite him to join them.
Unfortunately, Nathan had been busy lately, so he had turned down their invitation several times.
He happened to be free that day, so he paid them a visit to greet them.
However, when he reached the Windsor residence, he learned that Hansel had fallen ill.
When Camilla saw Nathan there, she hurried over and requested, “Nathan, thank the heavens you’re here. My stubborn husband has been sick for a couple of days now, but he refuses to go to the hospital. He won't let the doctor drop by to examine his condition, either. Please go talk to him.”
Hansel looked sickly pale, but he was still as stubborn as ever. “My stomach acts up every now and then. It's normal. There's no need to consult a doctor because I can just grab some medicine over the counter.” Nathan pointed out, “Our health is our most important asset, Mr. Windsor. We shouldn't take unnecessary risks. How about I make a call and have the military doctor come take a look?”
Hansel shook his head and insisted, “No, don’t. It's just a minor issue, so why are you wasting military resources and asking the doctor to come over? No, that is not necessary.”
The doctor on duty that day was a female military doctor in her thirties. Her name was Janice Geller, and she was stunning. She also exuded an aura unique to young married women.
When Janice saw Hansel, the expresident, she jumped in surprise. The shock was written all over her face, and she rushed inside to get the head of the hospital over to greet Hansel.
Nathan was quick to stop the nurse, though. “There is no need for that. Mr. Windsor is only here for an examination, and you can treat him like a random retired military personnel. Just follow the usual protocol. Also, please keep a low profile because he doesn't like the attention.” “Right, okay, understood,” replied Janice nervously.
After saying all that, she carefully examined Hansel’s condition before smiling at everyone. “My diagnosis is that it's just gastroenteritis. It’s not a serious issue. I'll prescribe some medication for you, and the symptoms should subside in a couple of days.
“However, the symptoms fading don’t mean that you’re completely cured. For that to happen, you must rest well and have your meals on time. You should also cut off anything spicy from your diet. Cold drinks and foods like ice cream should also be avoided.”
Hansel grinned and replied, “Got it. Thank you, doc.”
Janice seemed excited when she replied, “It's an honor to treat you, Mr. Windsor.”
