Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2407

Meanwhile, Nathan and Kylie went to another restaurant for dinner. After dinner, Nathan, Kylie, and Colin headed to a villa along Silent Road.

That villa originally belonged to the Windsor family.

However, none of the Windsors were currently staying there. It was usually empty, except for the presence of two housekeepers who were in charge of keeping the house clean.

Hansel had given Nathan the key to the villa and told him that he could stay there.

Nathan usually stayed at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor. However, his identity as the Chief Military Governor was still a secret. Besides, it might not be convenient for his relatives, such as Kylie, to enter the headquarters' premises.

As most people were still not aware of Nathan's status as the Chief Military Governor, rumors started surfacing after Penny visited the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor previously.

As such, Nathan had learned his lesson and chose to let Kylie stay at the Windsor family's villa instead.

“Wow! The house is so elegantly designed. Nathan, when did you buy a house in Brimmopolis?”

Kylie started admiring the interior of the house with fascination once she entered.

Nathan replied placidly, “It's Mr. Windsor's house. Since no one is staying here now, he passed me the keys to it so that I could have a private place to stay.”

“I see!” Kylie nodded in realization.

Nathan continued to say, “The few rooms on the first floor are occupied by Colin and the housekeepers. I'm staying in the master bedroom on the third floor. There are several guest rooms on the second floor, so you can choose any room you like.”

When Kylie heard that, she headed upstairs to choose her bedroom at once while the two maids helped her with her luggage.

For the next two days, apart from official business, Nathan spent his time accompanying Kylie, touring the various famous attractions in Brimmopolis.

Other than visiting tourist spots during the day, Kylie had also requested Nathan to take her to the best restaurants in Brimmopolis for dinner at night, fully enjoying her time in the city.

That night, Nathan, Kylie, and Colin returned to the villa at eleven o'clock.

Completely exhausted from the activities over the past few days, Nathan said to Kylie, “Okay, I've already accompanied you for two entire days. I will be returning to work tomorrow, so I won't be able to spend time with you. You'll have to tour the city yourself for the next few days before returning to Channing.”

As such, Nathan was already used to assassins going after him.

He was also trained to be extremely sensitive in terms of hearing because of that. Any man-made sounds would not be able to escape his ears, no matter how soft they were.

At once, Nathan knew that someone had sneaked into the backyard.

Instead of rushing outside to find out who it was, Nathan continued lying on his bed with his eyes wide open in the dark while listening carefully to the intruder's movements.

However, other than the barely audible sound he heard a moment ago, it was complete silence once again, as if he was just imagining things earlier on!

Nathan could not help but frown. He was very certain that he was not dreaming and that the strange sound he had detected a while back was real.

But if it was indeed an intruder, Nathan was sure that he would be able to notice other signs.

There could be only one explanation for the utter silence—the intruder was extremely formidable.
