Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2402

The Windsor family had just completed the funeral for Cecilia when Nathan brought Bryson back to Brimmopolis.

“Kneel here for a month. Should you still be alive after a month, then it means your time isn't up yet,” Nathan ordered while dragging him toward Cecilia's grave.

The Windsor family members all had a burning hatred in their eyes as they glared at Bryson from the side. Had they been allowed to, they probably would've killed him on the spot.

“I think a month is a little too long for him. Judging by the injuries on his legs, he'd definitely be dead by then,” Hansel said.

“How should we punish him then, Mr. Windsor?” Nathan asked politely.

“I think having him kneel here for seven days is good enough. If he can survive kneeling here for a week, then we shall assume that Cecilia has forgiven him. He can then proceed to carry on with his life as usual afterward,” Hansel replied.

Nathan nodded. “Okay. We'll do it your way, Mr. Windsor.”

Bryson didn't know whether to laugh or cry at his predicament. On the one hand, he knew he would most probably survive kneeling for seven days, but on the other, he would forever remain a disabled person if he didn't get his injuries treated.

After assigning someone to keep watch over Bryson, Hansel and the others returned to the city with Nathan.

They took the same car on the way back, and Hansel couldn't stop thanking Nathan for helping the Windsor family seek justice.

Halfway through the conversation, he mentioned Cayden, who had recently returned.

“Nathan, I hear my superiors are arranging for Cayden to become the Assistant Chief Military Governor. What do you make of him?”

“I don't know much about General Quillen. All I know is that he used to be a God of War twenty years ago. They called him Chivalrous God of War because he was a righteous man and had contributed greatly to the military,” Nathan replied with a smile.

“Cayden may seem like a chivalrous gentleman, but he is actually extremely arrogant and power-hungry. However, his achievements in the military are indeed excellent, and his combat prowess was unmatched in the world twenty years ago. I cannot just label him as good or bad because it would be oversimplifying things. Regardless, as your mentor, I must remind you to be wary of him,” Hansel said.

Nathan asked casually, “Did you find out about something, Mr. Windsor?”

It was his way of understanding everything that had happened in the military lately.

Leroy came bursting through the doors all of a sudden. “Bad news, Layden!"

Layden looked up at him and asked calmly, “What happened?”

“It's the Norris family of the five Reclusive Families... They've done something to wrong Nathan, and he confronted them at their doorstep. I heard he single-handedly defeated the Norris family's best fighters! Even their elder, Master Claudius, showed up to have a bout with him!” Leroy exclaimed with a stressed look on his face.

“The current generation of the Norris family are all mediocre fighters at best. Master Claudius, however, is a truly powerful fighter that even I would fear. Was Nathan able to survive that fight with him?” Cayden asked.

“They say Claudius agreed to only deliver one strike and promised to let Nathan go if he could survive it. As Nathan survived it, the Norris family honored their promise and handed Bryson over to him. They also announced that they'd shut their doors for three years, so none of their disciples were allowed to leave during that period. This means the Norris family's promise to ally with us is no longer valid,” Leroy replied with a wry smile.

Layden was a little furious when he heard that. “Damn it... I can't believe Nathan was able to survive Claudius' attack... I've lost a valuable ally because of him!”
