Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2388

After eating, Hansel was chatting with Nathan over tea.

In the middle, Hansel took a call. However, immediately after that, there seemed to be something weighing on his mind while he talked to Nathan.

Noticing that, Nathan asked, “What’s wrong, Mr. Windsor?”

Hesitating, Hansel sighed and said, “Well, one shouldn't wash one's dirty laundry in public. But since you're not an outsider and might be able to help, I'll tell you honestly.”

Nathan asked curiously, “What happened?”

Hansel replied, “I have a niece called Cecilia. Both my wife and I treat her as our own daughter. Since she was a child, she has been extremely intelligent, so she attended all the top schools. After graduating, she even founded her own company, and her net worth is over one billion.”

Nathan exclaimed, “She's very talented, indeed! Did she encounter any problems?”

Hansel sighed and uttered, “She’s good in everything, but she's just a bit foolish when it comes to relationships. She has never dated before. Just recently, she fell in love with a rich guy and became obsessed with him.”

Nathan asked, “It's a good thing that she's met someone suitable. So what's the problem?”

“If only he was someone suitable. The person she's dating is a playboy called Bryson Norris, an unambitious man who toys around with women just because his family is rich. Cecilia, my niece, mistook a jerk like him for a good man. Soon after dating him, she became pregnant with his child. Only after that did she realize that Bryson is always surrounded by women. In fact, he was dating dozens of heiresses at the same time. Furious, she argued with Bryson and got kicked by him. Not only did she get hospitalized, but she also lost her child. A relative looking after her at the hospital just called, saying Cecilia wants to jump off the building and end her life.”

Nathan frowned.

Reading Nathan's mind, Hansel smiled bitterly and said, "I've already retired, so my influence is gone too. It isn't appropriate for me to personally call someone and ask someone to deal with this. I can't make myself stoop so low.” Although Hansel used to be the president and had lost all of his authority, his pride still existed.

It was embarrassing for him to ask his former subordinates for help just because of this.

Hansel gazed at Nathan. “But you're different. You're my student. There’s a saying, once a teacher, always a teacher! A student treats his teacher like his father. Likewise, I've always treated you as my son. Hence, there's no need for such formalities with you. I decided to tell you this because I hope that you can teach Bryson a lesson. Let him know that my niece isn't someone he can bully so easily!” When Hansel said that, tears welled up in his eyes.

Perhaps, it was because he was too angry and sad at his niece’s experiences. Or maybe, he was feeling upset that he was being bullied since his former glory was gone.

Nathan finished his cup of tea before standing up and taking his leave. He promised, “Don't worry, Mr. Windsor. Leave it to me to teach Bryson a lesson.”
