Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2341

“Are your granddaughter Penny and her husband Nathan here today?” Tye casually asked.

Sean quickly pointed to the two who were seated next to him and did the introduction. “This is my granddaughter Penny, and next to her is her husband Nathan, Mr. Carlson.”

Actually, Tye's friend in Yorksland, Jace, had asked him to make the trip to be a mediator, so he had done some research on Nathan and Penny before he went to the Smith residence.

He knew Nathan used to be the Commander-in-Chief of the North Army, but he was made redundant and had been idling at home.

Penny was the chairman of Cross Group and had billions to her name. She was popularly known as Business Goddess to many.

He also found out she was recently awarded the World Peace Prize, so he was more respectful when he spoke to her.

“I saw on the news that Ms. Smith was awarded the World Peace Prize! You are the example every woman should model themselves on!” he said.

“I was lucky to be supported by many wonderful people. I don't deserve all the credit!” Penny humbly replied.

“You are too humble!” Tye said, and then he threw a glance at Nathan before continuing, “Ms. Smith, you are such an impressive woman. It is unfortunate this husband of yours can't quite measure up to you!”

Nathan lightly frowned upon hearing that, wondering if Tye was there to stir up trouble.

Penny was kind-hearted and forgiving and normally would keep her calm even when provoked. However, her husband was the love of her life, and she would not tolerate any nonsense in matters concerning him. When Tye crossed that line and spoke badly of Nathan, her face fell instantly.

Sean could tell she was about to blow her top and an ugly scene was about to begin, so he quickly stepped in to diffuse the tension. “Both Penny and Nathan are pretty capable, unlike old, useless me. That is why I am really proud of the two of them!” he chimed in.

Then he abruptly changed the subject and asked, “Oh, Mr. Carlson, we were talking about the purpose of your visit! What is it that we can do for you?”

Sean was getting a little annoyed and was trying to hold in his displeasure.

He acknowledged that when Tye was deputy governor and honored as the King of the South, he had not much of an achievement and was insignificant.

However, things had changed. He was no longer the nobody he was twenty years ago.

His granddaughter, Penny, was the chairman of Eurasia's top business group, and Nathan was a former Commander-in-Chief of the North Army. Over the years, the Smith family had risen to become a prominent family, yet Tye had no regard for his reputation and kept reminding everyone of his inferior past.

It was outrageous for someone to ask for favors with such an arrogant attitude.

Nathan had enough of Tye’s arrogance and told him off, “I was wondering what the purpose of your visit was... So you are here to beg for help! Has no one taught you that when you ask for a favor, you should do so with humility?”
