"But... the cameraman..."
"Don't worry about him."
James' casual remark left Sophie puzzled. "Where did you get the money?"
On their first day participating in the show, their phones were already turned in, and now the only numbers in James' phone were those issued by the show's team. They just had a few emergency contacts.
"This is a property of the Burke family, so I don’t have to spend money."
James' serious tone plunged Sophie into deep thought. How was she not aware that the Burke family's properties included a taxi service?
Soon enough, the taxi arrived at the beach. The sight of a taxi pulling up caught the production team off guard, and the director approached for a closer look, his expression somewhat puzzled.
The director asked, “Did we arrange for a car?”
“No.”
Sophie and James walked onto the beach one after the other, leaving the director scratching his head in frustration.
Why is this couple not playing by the rules?
“Where's Mrs. Burke and Mr. Burke's cameraman?”
The staff was even more troubled, saying, “We just got a call saying he got lost. It might take another half hour for him to get here.”
The director sighed, gesturing dismissively, “I'll go talk to them.”
The director approached Sophie and James and offered a sheepish smile. “Mrs. Burke, Mr. Burke, did you enjoy your time together yesterday?”
Half an hour later, the cameraman arrived, panting and almost in tears upon seeing the director.
He was thrown into an unfamiliar place and left at a bus stop, but he managed to stumble his way here by bus. He wasn’t opposed to taking taxis! He just hoped that next time Mr. Burke and Ms. Sophie decided to take a taxi, they would include him.
The shoot began with the director announcing through a megaphone, “The next task is to go fishing. As everyone knows, our island is rich in seafood, famously known as the Island of Seafood. You two will need to board a fishing boat to catch your meals for the day.”
Sophie frowned slightly. “I don't like seafood.”
Her remark caused some to suppress their laughter.
James said, “I'll get you something else.”
The cameraman perfectly captured their quiet interaction, and everyone was oblivious to a black sedan parked a street away. A pair of binoculars was closely observing the two.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
Excellent novel!...
