All three of them were momentarily stunned.
"What on earth is going on?" Sandy scanned the room, her eyes landing on an enormous pendulum clock on the wall, its deep chimes echoing through the room.
Sophie glanced at the clock. It was precisely 8:00 PM. At that moment, a beam of light illuminated a sofa on the second floor. A man wearing a mask was sitting there.
Sophie stared at him, feeling an increasing sense of familiarity. Jenna seemed to have a strong hunch too. She turned to Sophie and said, "Sophie, is that...?"
"Is that...?"
"Welcome to the Mintons' dinner party. I am the new CEO of the Mintons."
The voice was unmistakable, leaving Jenna and Sophie completely flabbergasted. Even Sandy found it strange. She nudged Jenna and Sophie, saying, "Isn't that voice familiar? Like, someone's brother? Am I hearing things?"
Sandy was itching to get to the bottom of this. How could Harold be the new CEO of the Mintons? Just a few days ago, they saw the news and Harold hadn't offered any explanations.
Upstairs, Harold removed his mask, revealing his cold, distant face. The crowd was shocked. After disappearing in Devonport for a year, the once aimless rich kid had become the CEO of the Mintons?
Sophie's mind was a whirlwind of confusion, while Jenna could no longer contain herself. "This brat! What does he think he's doing? I need to knock some sense into him!" Jenna was about to charge forward, but Sophie grabbed her arm, stopping her. "Hold on! Have you seen the guards around here? There are at least thirty people patrolling both floors! We can't even get close to Harold, let alone the second floor!"
Sophie gave Jenna a meaningful look. They saw eight guards stationed at the staircase leading to the second floor and at least ten men standing behind Harold. Jenna scowled, "This brat, always playing games with us when he was with the Aldridge family! What's he up to? He didn't even tell us about becoming the CEO of the Mintons!"
"Harold might have his reasons, or maybe... maybe it was Mr. Gordon’s directive..." Sophie’s words seemed to cool Jenna's anger a bit. If it was indeed Mr. Gordon's directive, it wasn’t entirely implausible. But why keep it a secret from them?
Just as the three were debating their next move, the door burst open and Rick came rushing in.

Awaiting new chapters plzzz...
when will new chapters release??...
Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
Excellent novel!...
When will you upload the next chapter...
