"Sophie, either eat your food or don’t, but could you stop poking your rice with your fork? You’re turning perfectly good rice into mush!" Odie said, frowning deeply across the table.

Snapping back to reality, Sophie noticed she had poked several holes in the rice in her bowl. While dishing out some vegetables for Sophie, Colby, without looking up, said to Odie, "Focus on your own meal and stop meddling."

Jonah burst in through the door, exclaiming, "Boss, we found an underground passage beneath the Pearl Hotel. Following it, we discovered it leads straight to a church."

"A church?" Colby asked.

"Yeah, a big one on Chemical Road. There's a priest who gives sermons there during the day," Jonah explained.

"What kind of sermons? The Bible?" Colby inquired.

Jonah shrugged, "I’m not sure about that."

Sophie added, "I saw those people yesterday, all wearing masks. The atmosphere was creepy, like some cult. It felt like a ritual, and we were the intended offerings."

Over the years abroad, Colby had been cultivating a clean force. The White family had long ceased to be of importance to him. Moreover, he still had the connections he’d made over the years. Only by returning the White family’s wealth to Vanessa could he free himself from owing them anything.

As dusk fell, Sandy and Angelo took a night flight back to the Pollard family. Upon arrival, they saw lights shining in the Pollard family’s hall. Dragging his suitcase, Angelo asked anxiously, "Where’s Dad? Take me to him!"

"Your dad’s right here," came a voice from behind them. Turning around, Sandy and Angelo were each met with a tap on the head from Caelum’s walking stick.
