Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 193

I totally wanted to make a U-turn and speed off, but Stella and her daughter were still in my car. I had no choice but to suck it up and drop them off at their doorstep.

"My wife is back!" Mitch, all dressed up, probably just got back from work. Seeing Stella get out of my car, he immediately rushed over to pick up Leila and enthusiastically greeted Stella.

Russel’s gaze fell on me for a few seconds before shifting away.

I also deliberately avoided Russel's gaze. Once Stella and Leila got out of the car, I was ready to leave.

"Hold on!" Mitch suddenly called out to me, "Rena, could you give Russel a lift? He didn’t bring his car, and I don't have the time to drive him."

Hearing this, Stella gave me a knowing wink.

My instinct was to refuse, but Russel looked at me again; his eyes were complex and a bit repressed.

I let out a deep sigh, "Alright. Dr. Russel, I'll take you home."

Russel didn't say a word. He kept his lips tight but seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. He nodded at Mitch, then got into my car.

He had a scent of woman's perfume on him today.

I drove in silence, heading to Russel's apartment. I'd been there once before and remembered the general route.

"I had a blind date today," Russel broke the silence first, "We met, had dinner, and chatted."

"That's nice. How old is she? What does she look like?" I casually asked.

Russel didn't answer. I couldn't help but glance at him. He sat upright in the passenger seat, his profile expressionless.

Did I say something wrong again? Wasn't I just showing concern for him?

Never mind, it's probably better if I just keep quiet and drive.

So I kept silent, not asking anymore about Russel's blind date. It wasn't until the car arrived at his apartment building that I broke the silence, "We're here."

"Wait for me. I need to take Boomer for deworming," Russel said to me in a slightly gloomy tone as he unbuckled his seat belt, "My car is in the shop for maintenance. The other cars are at home. Can you give me a ride again?"

"Sure. I'll wait for you here." What else could I say?

While Russel went to get Boomer, I was stuck in a curious thought: Is this what it feels like to be loved by someone I don't love?

Did that mean Neil had been dealing with this kind of trouble for the ten years I was chasing him?

The more I thought about it, the more I felt something was off. Why was I starting to feel sympathy for Neil? I must be going crazy.

"Meow!" The car door opened again. A cute meow interrupted my messy thoughts.

Russel had changed his clothes. He was now in a white t-shirt and gray pants, very simple and casual. God had been kind to him, leaving almost no traces of age on his face, so as long as he changed his style a bit, he looked very young.

As long as his gaze wasn't so cold.

Boomer seemed to remember me. In the cage, he kept meowing, trying to get close to me, but without success.

"Boomer is looking more handsome!" I leaned in to look at the kitten, unable to suppress my compliment.

The other camp believed it signaled a potential collaboration between Whitmore Co. and Harmony Enterprises. They didn’t meet because of lingering feelings but for business interests.

While Neil and Bonnie became a hot topic, I had already packed up and started working at my family's company.

Stella quickly organized a party to celebrate my becoming a working woman. On Friday night, as soon as I got off work, they dragged me into Cielo Nocturno.

I hadn't been here for a drink in a long time. I drank one glass after another and soon felt tipsy. Before long, the four of us got a little drunk.

"Rena, just a heads up..." Stella suddenly leaned in and whispered in my ear, "Neil is trying to figure out who leaked the news about him and Bonnie. It seems like he's found out it was you."

"Cough, cough, cough..." I almost choked. Does Neil really have that much free time?

"Why did you do that?" Stella squinted at me.

I felt a bit drunk, so I replied directly, "I just don't want to be bothered by Neil, so I gave him something to do. What do you think of my idea?"

Stella glanced behind me, and her expression seemed a bit off. She immediately covered my mouth, "You're drunk. That’s why you're talking nonsense."

I was kinda pissed, so I pushed Stella's hand away, "I'm not talking nonsense! I'm telling the truth. Hasn't he always been all tangled up with Bonnie? Then he should just keep entangling with her, not bothering me. From now on, I'll leak his news to the media every day. If that's not enough, I'll spill the beans about Karina too."

Just then, a hand reached from behind me and took my glass away.

I turned around in confusion. Neil stood behind me, his face stern. His indifference stood out in stark contrast to the lively atmosphere around us.

Even though Stella and the others always said Neil was a bad guy, it seemed like I was the one caught red-handed right now. For a moment, all four of us were left speechless.
