Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 149

Neil spotted me immediately, then his gaze shifted to Oscar.

Of course, Oscar still had a grudge against Neil, the man who had once stolen his girlfriend. But now that things had moved on, especially after he learned about what Bonnie had done, he only showed a hint of caution.

In comparison, Neil's gaze was far more hostile, like icy arrows, full of pressure.

"Irene, let's get out of here," Oscar said, standing up and taking hold of my hand, "Don't make things hard for yourself because of me."

I sat back down and spoke again, "What's so special about Wellness Oasis? Who's the manager? Can't he/she come out and meet us?"

The employee with the number 17 badge froze, then turned around and snapped back, "ma’am, I've already told you, we can't do any spa treatments today, you're the one who's being stubborn! If you continue to disrupt our business, I'll call the police!"

Neil, who had been listening to our conversation, frowned, then gestured for another staff member to take his friends to grab something to eat.

"What's going on?" he came over, one arm hooked in the sleeve of his grey suit jacket, one hand in his pocket, looking every bit the model with his effortless style.

Number 17 hurriedly responded, "Sir, there's been a slight misunderstanding with these two customers, it's nothing serious. Is there anything I can assist you with?"

She didn't seem to recognize Neil.

"So, today none of the spa services are available, is it because you really can't do it or you just look down on our discount coupons?" I threw the coupons on the ground, looking defiantly at Neil and number 17, "I insist on using these coupons today, or else I won't let this go!"

Neil picked up the two coupons from the floor, his sharp gaze landing on Oscar again.

He knew I would never use coupons to spend money here, it must have been Oscar's idea.

I didn't care what he thought, considering today my chance to make a scene.

Neil pulled out his wallet, took out a black, gold-trimmed card and handed it to me. It was the highest-level gold card of Wellness Oasis, Stella had one too.

"Sir!" Number 17, seeing Neil taking out the card, first showed a look of surprise and envy, then tried to stop him, "It's okay, you don't need to help me out by giving your card to this lady. I'll call the police!"

Neil glanced at her, his eyes cold.

I stood up, didn't take his card, but pointed at number 17, "Neil, I don't need your card. I just have one request, fire her, now!"

Hearing Neil's name, number 17 froze for a moment before realizing who he was. She was shocked.

"Ma’am, even Mr. Whitmore doesn't have the right to fire me, right? Since you know Mr. Whitmore, can't we just let this go? I'll take you to do the spa now." Number 17 was a resilient character.

Neil, looking at my domineering attitude, showed a hint of helplessness in his eyes, but he still made a call, "Manager Sammy, come and take number 17 to settle her wages."

"Mr. Whitmore, you..." Number 17 was dumbfounded, stuttering.

Wellness Oasis was a hard place to get into, even as a waitress. Many young girls were eager to work here. Not only because of the high wages but also because it increased the chances of meeting wealthy, handsome men.

Soon, Sammy rushed over. Without even knowing the full story, he took number 17 away.

This kind of short-sighted waitress didn't suit working here. If she couldn't recognize me and Neil today, she wouldn't recognize other VIPs tomorrow. She'll upset someone sooner or later.

I don't discriminate against any job or person, but number 17's contempt annoyed me.

My parents were still awake, chatting with her. Seeing me, they invited me to join them.

"Irene, I came to Rosemont to visit a friend, but she's out of town until tomorrow morning. My dad was worried about me and insisted I stay at your place for the night," Cathie explained.

"Your dad is right, it's safer for you to stay here," my dad agreed.

I barely knew Cathie. We had only met twice at the banquet, and I had overheard her badmouthing me in the restroom.

So I didn't show any enthusiasm, just smiled faintly, "Sure, you can stay here. I'm a bit tired, I'm going to take a shower and rest."

Cathie immediately got up to follow me, "Irene, I'd like to take a bath too. Does the guest room have a bathroom?"

I glanced back at her, nodded, but didn't respond.

I led Cathie to a guest room, gave her toiletries, then prepared to go to my own room, but she stopped me.

"Irene, can I ask you a few questions?"

I stopped in my tracks, turning to look at Cathie. A flicker of hesitation crossed her face, but it quickly turned into a fearless expression. "It's about Neil," she said. "I know you won't like me saying this, but now that you and him are divorced, I can pursue him openly!"

Was she really being frank with me to my face right now? I suddenly found myself admiring Cathie's character. She didn't just talk behind my back but was willing to be upfront with me. I couldn't help but compare her to Bonnie, and it seemed like she was a bit more aboveboard.

Bonnie had also confessed to me face-to-face before, but she always liked to find some hypocritical reasons to explain herself, which really got on my nerves.
