"Shut up!" Charlotte glared at her mate, cursing him in her mind. But, Augustus wasn't in the mood to stop as he smirked and then leaned on his chair.

He raised his brow at her, "Why? I have all the rights..." He muttered clearly, making her blush more.

Charlotte "...."

She felt a headache from his shameless flirting and lowered her head. She started eating hurriedly. However, her action turned too careless that she choked on her food and started coughing.

Lucinda wanted to go forward but Augustus was faster.

He frowned and rushed beside her, jumping up from his seat. He patted her head and back and slowly, she relaxed and glared at him.

It happened because of him in the first place!

Yet, he ignored her angry look and hold a glass of water for her. "Drink it."

She did not retort him and took the glass, taking a sip of water to clear her throat. After she is done, she kept the glass on the table and stood up.

"Where are you going?" Augustus holds her by the wrist.

She turned to face him, void of any emotion, "In the training ground." She muttered.

He looked at her breakfast plate and it was filled with half of the food still. His brows furrowed deeper. "You haven't finished your breakfast yet."

She snatched her hand from him and glared at him coldly. He still dared to say that? Doesn't he understand why she is going away!?

"I lost my appetite." She gritted her teeth and left from there.

Augustus was about to chase her but was stopped by a phone call. He stared at the screen and only 'Z' was showing on the screen.

His face turned cold and tough. He knows well, who it is. Augustus picked up the call after dismissing all the servants.

"Hmm." He hummed with a tough tone.

"Alpha, I have news about the Beta Mateo." He said.

"What is it?" Augustus asked.

"Beta Mateo has visited the Golden Heart pack a week ago to meet Barton. He was the closest omega servant to the Alpha. Now, Retired from the position because of his old age. Beta Mateo learned something from him and was enraged." Z said.

"Hmm..." Augustus hummed only.

But Z understood that he is asking him to speak further. Working with his master, he has learned his every action now. He continued, "And for the last week, he is keeping his eyes on his own mate. Carina Leighton. It comes out that, Miss Leighton has some connection to harm the Luna."

Augustus clenched his fists. "Anything else?" He asked.

"No, Alpha." Z denied. "He is still keeping his eyes on his mate and I am following him. As soon as I find it out, I will let you know." He said and Augustus nodded.

"Hmm..." With that, he cut the call and stared forward with his eyes turning colder.

No, he does not suspect his Beta. He is loyal without a doubt. But, for the last week, Augustus found Mateo disturbed. He is not only his loyal Beta but his best friend who grew up with him.

No matter, what the reason is, Mateo has never been this much disturbed. He thought he hide his worry well, but Augustus has the eyes of the Alpha and nothing could escape his eyes.

He immediately realised his tense mood but didn't ask it directly to him. Thinking, his friend might be in trouble, he asked his secret spy 'Z' to keep an eye on Mateo.

She is selfish.

He looked up at her. "How could I believe you after what you have done?" He asked all along but she of course didn't realise it and lowered her head as if she is guilty!

"I have said sorry a thousand times Mateo. I am saying it again. Please forgive me, Mateo. I made a mistake and I promise to not repeat the same mistakes. Please, trust me one more time." She pleaded and his gaze softened.

how could he not trust her when she is being like this? But, he couldn't! He knows she is lying and he felt sad about it. His heart clenched at the thought of losing her but he has no choice but to report her to the Alpha.

Mateo gulped a mouthful of saliva and nodded. "Fine then, you can go alone today. But, remember your promise, Carina." He said, lying like her.

He might not send guards after her, but he himself would follow her like last seven days!

Carina smiled and immediately came to him and kissed him deeply. Mateo returned the kiss.

He knows he needs to report her because she is planning a crime against the Luna. He is angry with her but he also can't resist her little actions of love for him.

This is true that Carina loves him and he does too. he loves her a lot more, after all, they are chosen mates, but... The path she chose is gonna destroy her and him along.

'I know right?' Regan muttered sadly. 'I can't even connect to her wolf. She has gone too far away from us, Mateo. Our love failed.' She was sad and hurt and betrayed.

Mateo sighed inwardly, 'We tried our best, Regan. But, she chose her way and we can't help it anymore...' He said to his wolf, watching his mate going far away from him.

It felt that she didn't only go away at this moment, but she has parted herself a long ago and gone too far away from his reach...
