Still, the more he wanted to change the topic, the more Xavia knew that the memory of that woman was still weighing down his heart. Not wanting to force him to bring up unpleasant memories, Xavia ultimately said, “…Either way, I’ll make you dinner so you can wander about to have a look around in the meantime…”
With that said, Xavia then headed to the stove to start preparing dinner… With her new supplies and cooking equipment, Xavia was able to make a wood-fired meal today. Come to think of it, the last time she had prepared a meal like this was about four years ago when she was still at her grandmother’s place…
At the time, her grandmother would always say that she was too thin, and Xavia would often end up being made to drink rice soup. After all, according to an old countryside saying, pigs could get fat from drinking rice soup. To her Grandma’s dismay, Xavia never did gain any weight. Regardless, those were the good, innocent days that she could no longer return to…
…No. She had to eventually learn where her grandmother was from Jenna…!
Following that thought, Xavia began preparing a simple dinner… and by late evening, she had made Tomato and egg soup, stir-fry bean curd with chilies, and a serving of stir-fried vegetables. Though there wasn’t any meat, and it wasn’t exactly a gourmet platter, everyone still ate to their heart’s content.
Once Maison was done with his meal, he quickly exclaimed, “I really like it here, Aunt! …Hmm? Is that rain I hear? It’s the first time I’ve heard such pleasant raindrops falling on the rooftop! You know what, I’m going to sleep with Little Bun and enjoy the ambiance!”
Before Xavia could say a thing, the boy had already pulled Yulia away from the kitchen, leaving Xavia momentarily speechless. It was obvious that the boy was trying to get Zivon to stay here for the night so that he could sleep with her… However.
Since this was Maison’s plan, Xavia was sure that even Zivon was unprepared for such a thing! For all Xavia knew, Zivon may have wanted to return to accompany Ava… Unsure what to make of the situation, she then meekly peeked at Zivon…
And after a while, he raised a slight brow as he replied, “…What? Are you going to chase me off while it’s raining?”
…Why had she expected any other answer…?! Shaking her head, she then rushed off to wash the dishes… and once she was done with that, she gave the two kids a bath before double-checking to see if everything was in order around the house…
“…H-huh? It’s nothing! He was simply asking if I had already settled down… We’re just friends by this point…” muttered Xavia who didn’t dare tell Zivon that Keith was trying to pursue her again.
Despite how awkward Xavia sounded, her explanation made Zivon think little about Keith. He was much more focused on wondering why she was maintaining a gap between them on the bed. With that in mind, once she had switched her phone off and the room was dark again, he couldn’t help but ask, “…Are you afraid that I’ll eat you or something?”
…What kind of question even was that?! Shaking her head, Xavia then replied, “Not at all… Why should I be?”
“If that’s the case, why are you sleeping so far from me? Hmm?” asked Zivon in a particularly charming tone, instantly causing Xavia to grow embarrassed. The truth was, she was only keeping her distance since his breath always made her nervous…
To Xavia’s surprise, Zivon then pulled her into his arms before saying, “This is how couples sleep.”
