Though anyone else would’ve found her tone to be powerful and slightly intimidating, Zivon simply raised a brow before replying, “I don’t want Maison getting along with half-hearted people who are emotionally confused.”

…What? Her eyes now widened in disbelief, Xavia couldn’t help but exclaim, “Who are you calling half-hearted and emotionally confused?! Are you sure you’re talking about me?!”

“Did you not return home to look for your first love? Then why are you dating Keith now? May I remind you that you’re also still in touch with your previous lover. Is that not a textbook example of an emotionally confused person?” said Zivon, leaving Xavia momentarily speechless.

There… There were reasons for all that! But… how was she going to explain it all to him…?

Upon seeing that Xavia couldn’t refute, Zivon simply placed the cheque before her as he said, “Leave.”

Though his voice was extremely commanding, Xavia was discontent with leaving like this. Before she could reply, however, a knock could be heard on the door…

In stepped Nathan, and upon seeing what was happening, he paused for a moment before eventually saying, “…Um… The meeting is about to begin, Young Master…”

After responding with a grunt, Zivon simply returned to his table to gather some documents before leaving the room, never once looking at the speechless Xavia on his way out…

From that day onward, Maison mostly remained in Zivon’s villa. Zivon didn’t even allow the boy to stay back after school, resulting in Xavia only being able to stare at him from afar… It was like she was a complete stranger now…

Though her life had pretty much settled down by now, it was filled with a certain emptiness. Still, Xavia understood that her time with Maison was already a blessing from god. She couldn’t expect to be with the boy anymore…

“Fine by me,” said Keith with a smile as he followed her out…

Once they were outside, Xavia cut straight to the chase and asked, “Alright, what do you want from me?”

Staring at her for a bit, Keith eventually replied, “It’s great-grandma’s birthday tomorrow. With that said, since you’ll be a future great-granddaughter-in-law—and everyone has their eyes on you now—, I feel that it’s only reasonable that you go out with me to select a gift as well as attend her birthday banquet tomorrow.”

Frowning slightly when she heard that, Xavia was prompted to say, “You know how Lady Burton treats me, Young Master Keith. That aside, I’m sure you understand the situation regarding our relationship. With that in mind, why would I attend the birthday banquet with you? I’m sure you could easily come up with an excuse to leave me out of it. If that can’t be done, then I’m fine with faking an illness and being hospitalized too.”

“Miss Xavia, I hope you remember that I’ve done my best to cooperate with you when you needed help. Now that I’m asking for help in return, are you really going to just turn a blind eye?” replied Keith, causing Xavia to momentarily fall silent…
