Naturally, she wasn’t going to tell the details to anyone. Regardless, she then gave her agent a call before ordering, “I want you to investigate Xavia’s love history. I need a list of all the men that she’s ever fallen for in the past.”
“Got it.”
Despite having so many people out to get her, Xavia remained blissfully unaware in her sleep throughout the night...
Waking only when morning came, Xavia couldn’t help but raise a slight brow when she turned her cell phone on and saw that she had missed several calls from Stefan, and even more from Dolly. Regardless, the thought of Stefan made Xavia feel slightly sad and dejected.
Truth be told, she wasn’t really angry with him since she understood him well enough. With that in mind, she knew that she shouldn’t have turned her phone off and made him worry. Still, she was in a terrible mood yesterday, and she didn’t want to pay attention to anyone or anything else…
Shaking her head, she then decided to first give Dolly a call to see what she wanted. Once the call connected, Xavia asked, “Dolly? What’s wrong? Sorry, I turned my cell phone off before bed last night…”
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?! You tell me what’s wrong! What on earth is going on between you and Chairman Talton? Why’s he suddenly married to someone else?! Are we not friends?! Why didn’t you tell me about such a major incident sooner?! To think that I had to learn about this through the news!”
Though Dolly’s questions were filled with surprise, anger, and disbelief, all those didn’t matter to Xavia. No, her mind was now much more preoccupied with the sentence, ‘learned through the news.’
Frowning slightly, Xavia then logged into Facebook… and shortly after, she understood why Dolly was so agitated. From what Xavia could guess—based on Stefan’s personality—, he must have made his marriage with Lily public so that he could protect her. In other words, she was dragging him down again…
Now feeling a lump in her throat, Xavia shook the thought off before explaining, “…It’s a long story… Basically, Mr. and Mrs. Talton wanted Stefan to get married to Lily. Some things happened, and Lily ended up copulating with him and getting pregnant. Due to that, Stefan had no choice but to marry her. With all that said, I no longer think that things will be possible between me and Stefan… Also, don’t make any further jokes about trying to set him up with me in the future. I don’t want Lily to misunderstand and feel unhappy…”
Before Xavia could reply, Dolly had already hung up. It was clear to Xavia that she had failed to live up to Dolly’s expectations… Regardless, though she knew that Dolly only wanted what was best for her, Xavia was also certain that neither of those men were for her. Maybe god wanted her to remain alone, though she wasn’t really against that idea either…
Xavia’s train of thought was cut short when her doorbell suddenly began ringing. This prompted her to raise a slight brow. How odd… She hadn’t told a soul that she was going to be here. With that in mind, who could that be…?
Looking out the peephole, Xavia soon realized that the person at the door was none other than the friendly, polite, and impeccably dressed Anthony! Opening the door, Xavia was prompted to ask, “Mr. Zeeman…? How did you manage to find me?”
Smiling in response, he simply handed her an envelope—with both hands—while saying, “The chairman spent two hours searching for you last night. Once he finally located you, he didn’t want to be a bother, so he ordered me to come at a reasonable hour—once morning came—to hand this letter to you. He really didn’t want me disturbing your rest…”
