However, it wasn’t long after before the doorbell rang. But who could that be at this late hour…? Worried for her and Yulia’s safety, Xavia made sure to look through the peephole first… only to end up frowning. It wasn’t a hotel attendant, a drunken man, nor was it Zivon.
The person at the door… was Lily? What on earth was she doing here? Curious, Xavia then slowly opened the door before asking, “Can I help you, Miss Whitham-”
Before she could even finish her sentence, Xavia suddenly felt an acute pain on her cheek… Lily had just slapped her! It was evident that the slap had hurt a lot due to how distinct the red mark on Xavia’s now throbbing cheek was…
Regardless, after taking a second to snap out of her dizziness, Xavia slowly turned to look at the furious-looking woman—who was still standing at the door—before asking, “…Have you gone insane, Miss Whitham…? Have you come all the way here in the dead of night just to act like some nut?”
“Hah! Big words coming from a pretentious b*tch who’s currently in an affair with a man whose wife is pregnant! You’re the nut, you morally corrupt wh*re!” scoffed Lily.
…Pregnant? Affair? What on earth was she on about? Could she be talking about Jenna…? But there was no way Jenna had been pregnant before…
Seeing how confused Xavia looked, Lily sneered before adding, “Still putting up an act? It’s a real pity that Stefan isn’t here to see your performance! Regardless, save your façade and never appear before Stefan again! He doesn’t need another Mrs. Talton!”
…Another… Mrs. Talton…? Momentarily shocked beyond words, Xavia eventually managed to ask, “…What… Did you say…? You… You and Stefan are married now…?”
But that was impossible! Stefan hadn’t said a thing about this, and Xavia knew for a fact that he wouldn’t do such a thing without telling her! Unfortunately for her, Lily—who could sense her disbelief—then pulled out two documents...
With all that in mind, Xavia took a deep breath before eventually replying, “…First thing’s first, I apologize since I respect the law. Secondly, whether you choose to believe it or not, Stefan and I haven’t done anything morally wrong. You, of all people, should know that Stefan just isn’t that kind of guy. To clarify, he only brought me here tonight to help me sort out my accommodation. Since you managed to get here, I’m assuming you’re also aware that he’s left for quite a while now.”
“Either way, I have a feeling that Stefan’s been trying to tell me about this for some time now, though he never found the proper chance to do so. With that said, trust me when I say that I had no idea that you two were married, nor did I know that you were pregnant with his child. Now that I know, however, I won’t be emotionally involved with him anymore. I’ll be sure to properly sort out his relationship with me as well.”
Upon hearing Xavia’s words of conviction, Lily sneered before retorting, “If that’s the case, then leave immediately!”
…Come again? Leave? At this hour…?
