It only took five minutes to complete a series of checks. Brad looked at Nadine, who was tidying up the equipment, with newfound admiration. He hadn't known that she had such a talent for medicine.
Judging from the way she expertly handled the instruments, it was clear that she often did this. The woman who once only cooked him meals and cared for him at home now seemed so capable as she conducted medical tests.
Her expression was solemn and focused, her eyes fixed and unwavering on the equipment. Her demeanor when she worked was captivating. Watching her work made Brad's heart miss a beat.
Her fair, slender hands were still as beautiful as ever, but now they seemed to appear magical. For the first time, Brad was genuinely amazed by Nadine. It dawned on him that he barely knew the real her.
While Brad was absorbed in watching Nadine, she had already stopped what she was doing, deftly pulling out a pen from the pocket of her white coat to quickly jot down a string of numbers.
"Your blood pressure is a little high. I suspect it might be related to your heart. I suggest you stay calm and keep a positive mindset, Mr. Hamilton. Also, stick to light meals and avoid spicy or greasy foods."
Then, she put all the medical equipment back on the medical cart and turned toward the door.
"Mr. Hamilton, you've just undergone emergency surgery and need to rest. You mustn't move around or get upset. Or else, your heart won't hold out much longer," she said with her back to Brad, hiding the tears in her eyes.
Noticing that she was about to leave his room, he hurriedly said, "Oh no, Ms. Scott. My chest hurts!"
He had already done his homework—Nadine was Seraphina's personal assistant and one of the fastest-rising nurses at the hospital. Besides her hard work, her talent was a big factor in her success.
