Tyler carried a small school bag and followed Carter upstairs. The adult and kid looked at each other.
Tyler shrank his neck and said fearfully, "Dad, why are you looking at me like that? I haven't done anything wrong."
"You went with a stranger without telling your mother. Didn’t you know that she’d be worried?" Carter lectured him.
Tyler refuted. "But daddy, he’s not a stranger. He’s my grandpa. Also, when I look at grandpa, I think he looks a lot like daddy and I."
The corners of Carter’s mouth twitched. Old Master Gale was old. How could Tyler say they looked alike?
"From which eye of yours do we look alike at all?"
Tyler stuck his tongue out. "Both my eyes can see that... Daddy, I’ll never leave like that anymore. Let's call mommy!"
Carter was in a daze. It felt far too undignified for him to do that. His cell phone battery had gone flat just now. After charging it for a while, he turned on the phone and handed it to Tyler.
The man pursed his thin lips and said, "You call her yourself."
The truth was that it had nothing to do with his dignity. The most important thing was that Carter had not figured out how to tell Helen his identity.
He was really afraid that the little woman would hate him because of it and want a divorce.
Tyler did not think much about it, so he instantly called her. "Why isn't mommy answering the phone?"
Carter felt a little embarrassed. Was she still angry?
After a while, right after the call connected, Helen scolded from the other end before Tyler could speak.
"Carter Gale! You bastard! Jerk! You only know how to call me now?! You big liar!"
The high-pitched female voice made Tyler and Carter’s necks shrink.
Carter felt that he was already on his way to the crematorium...
Tyler pouted his small mouth. In front of his angry mother, he had no guts at all. When a woman became angry, she could be much more terrifying than a man.
"Mommy... I'm Tyler..."
Helen was silent.
After being stunned for several seconds, Helen started to chide him. "You’re only calling me now after all this time to tell me that you’re safe? How could you go with your grandpa who you haven't seen before? Tyler Gale, I'm the one who gave birth to you and raised you. How could you be so unconscientious like your father? You two...are such ungrateful wretches!"
Tyler felt wronged. "Mommy, I'm not an ungrateful wretch. I came here with grandpa to help you bring daddy home!"
Hmph, would Carter still return to their little home? He was the successor of a multinational company. After returning to the Gale family, how could he return to their small house of 80 square meters.
Pondering this, Helen felt that she had been deceived and her heart stolen. She even gave birth to a child for him. The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. She started crying on the phone.
"Liar... Big liar! Carter, how could you do this to me?!"
Helen's accusation was loud, and Carter could hear it clearly through the phone.
Carter took the cell phone from his son and gestured for him to go somewhere first to play.
Tyler ran somewhere to play with his new toys before Carter finally coaxed her, "Wifey, I'm sorry. I..."
Before Carter could finish speaking, Helen cried more fiercely as soon as she heard his voice. "Carter, you bastard!"
"Yes, I'm a bastard."
"Carter Gale! You big liar!"
"Yes, I'm a liar. I promise that I'll never lie to you again."
Helen was clearing her runny nose while accusing him of his crime. "Hmph, I won't believe you again!"
Tyler came over with a model car and asked eagerly, "Daddy, can I have this model car?"
"If you like it, just take it."
"Thank you, daddy! Daddy, how was your talk with mommy?"
Carter's face darkened. "You're a child. Don't worry about adult affairs. Also, I want to go out now. You should just sleep by yourself. If something happens, tell your grandpa."
"Okay. Daddy, go work on your stuff."
After Carter went downstairs, Old Master Gale saw that he was going out and could not help but ask, "Where are you going to at this hour?"
Carter snorted coldly. "If it wasn't for the 'great' thing you've done, why would I need to go to find my wife so late?"
Old Master Gale responded, "… You! Why? Are you bringing that woman back to our house now?"
Carter tilted his head sideways to stare at Old Master Gale. He said in an unusually serious manner, "I'm telling you that Helen is my wife. She'll be my wife for as long as I live. No woman can replace her."
After saying these words, Carter instantly drove out of the mansion.
Old Master Gale sat on the sofa. Feeling a little confused, he asked Old Mike beside him, "Old Mike, do you think he really loves that woman?"
Old Mike smiled and said, "I think the young master is really serious this time. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have a child with Ms. Helen based on his temperament. You also know that if there's something the Young Master doesn't want to do, no one can force him to do so."
"What about Tina Lane? He used to break me off because of Tina." Old Master Gale could not figure out the love amongst young people.
"Old Master, that’s the past. Moreover, I see that Young Master has given up Tina after seeing through her facade. However, Young Master treats Ms. Helen very differently. In the past three years, as far as I know, Young Master and Ms. Helen have been living a poor life. He helps Ms. Helen with the house chores. How could the former Young Master help a woman with house chores?"
The old man Gale frowned, realizing that the issue was not as simple. "That fella does house chores?"
"Yes. When the Young Master brings Ms. Helen back, maybe you can ask him to show you his skills when he’s in a good mood one day."
