Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 438

Serene's mother was so enraged that she almost passed out. Serene's father wanted to stop her, but she had already walked up to Serene and asked her in a solemn tone, "Is Ms. Ruby telling the truth?"

"Mom, that's not true…"

"What is the truth then? Tell me! What is going on? Why are you with your best friend's husband?"

Serene opened her mouth, but she realized she had nothing to explain. "I... Mom, I'm sorry."

Suddenly, Serene's mother slapped her on the face!

"Serene Ludd! Where are the principles that I've taught you since you were young? How could you destroy another person's marriage!"

Infuriated, Serene's mother clutched her chest as she glared at her daughter.

There was a bright red palm print on Serene's face. She could only feel the burning on her cheeks and a tearing sensation in her heart.

Serene's father said anxiously, "There's no use beating her. Things had already happened, you..."

"Shut up! If you hadn't spoiled her, she wouldn't behave this way!"

Ruby enjoyed their family drama. She said, "Aunty, please don't be angry. It's not good for your health. I've already forgiven Serene. As long as she stops seeing my husband, everything will be good."

Serene's mother felt like she was indebted to Ruby. "Don't worry, Ms. Ruby. If she keeps pestering your husband, I'll break her legs!"

The Ludd family would not be able to endure the shame and humiliation!

Luna had won big that round. Before she left, she glanced at Serene, who looked dejected. She was surprised that she sympathized with Serene.

What a pity, but that was the consequence of stealing Ruby Luna's man!

There was only silence in the Ludd family's home.

Serene's mother trembled with anger as she clutched her forehead and said, "Serene Ludd, how could you do something so outrageous? Don't you have any shame?"

Serene felt numb as an endless flow of tears fell from her eyes.

Serene's father wanted to defend her, but her mother fired back at him.

She got even angrier when Serene kept quiet; she did not even try to explain herself. She strode toward the kitchen, grabbed a broomstick, and struck Serene hard!

Serene's father tried to hold her back, but the weapon still landed on Serene heavily.

"Stop hitting her! What is the point of beating her? Serene, get out of here quickly!"

Serene's mother was on a rampage, "Don't hold me back! Let me go! She won't learn shame if I don't give her a proper beating today! She doesn't know how to behave like a proper woman! Why did I give birth to such a loser?"

Another few strikes landed on Serene's back as her mother screamed at her.

Serene's father could not bear to see his daughter like that. Since he could not stop his wife, he could only push Serene outside.

"Leave now!"

Serene's father closed the door hurriedly after he shoved Serene out the door!

Serene stood outside as she listened to their argument inside. There was only turmoil in her heart. The wounds on her body were nothing compared to what she felt at that moment.

She wept and ran out of the hallway.

Wilson had been calling Serene non-stop as soon as he arrived at Clear River Town, but none of them got through.

Anxious, Wilson went straight to her house.

Serene's parents' affection for Wilson had immediately vanished.

Serene's mother was the first to question him. "Why did you mess around with Serene when you already have a family?"

"Aunty, it's tough for me to explain the twists and turns of this story right now, but Serene is innocent. She didn't know I was married."

A piercing pain shot through Serene's mother's heart when she heard what he said. "So, you're saying that you lied to Serene?"

"If you don't want to, I can send you back home."

It was not safe for her to stay there alone at such a late hour.

"Serene! Serene!"

"Serene Ludd!"

Somewhere not far away, they heard the familiar voices. They could also see the light from the flashlights.

Serene's parents were there.

Serene wiped her tears and said to Wilson, "You'd better leave! My parents wouldn't want to see you here!"

Wilson wanted to stay with her, but he knew it was impossible for him to do that. "Take a good rest tonight. I'll visit your house tomorrow morning to talk to your parents."

Wilson lifted his hands to caress the wounds on her cheeks gently.

As usual, Serene avoided his gaze and ignored him.

In the end, Serene's parents brought her back home.

It was a hectic day for them. After all the scoldings and beatings, it was already late, and Serene's mother was tired as well. She no longer scolded Serene, but her silence made Serene feel even more uncomfortable.

It was the middle of the night, and she was curled under the covers. Unsure whether it was the pain from her wounds or she felt too aggrieved, she cried.

Serene's parents could not fall asleep that night, either.

As they laid on the bed, Serene's mother looked at the ceiling and sighed. "Honey, was I too harsh to her today?"

"What do you think? You've always said that we shouldn't hit a child in the face. Not only did you hit Serene today, but you also slap her on her face."

"I was too frustrated and angry. I did not expect our daughter would become the other woman in someone else's marriage."

"Serene didn't even know that the guy was married. She was also a victim. She was deceived."
