The vice president walked out of his office and saw Wilson and Serene outside the door. He immediately smiled and said, “Dr. Ludd, my nephew, Jayden, offended you earlier today. I hope you don’t take it to heart. I‘ll teach him a lesson later! That bastard is asking for a beating!”
Serene’s eyes widened. She could not believe that the vice president was apologizing to them instead of punishing them.
Wilson grabbed Serene’s hand and said coldly, “Let’s go.”
Serene bowed politely to the vice president before they left. “Vice president, we’ll make a move first!”
“Alright, go ahead.”
Serene asked curiously on their way back to Wilson’s office, “How did you persuade the vice president? He was actually standing by our side!”
Wilson explained to her, “Jayden was primarily at fault in this incident. It will do no good to Jayden if we were to investigate this matter. The vice president was worried that the hospital would be in trouble, so he wanted us to quash this incident.”
“Oh… you’re right. But Jayden is such a scoundrel! I wish I could beat him up badly!”
Wilson lowered his eyes and looked at the woman clenching her fist, all fueled up and ready to fight. He thought she looked exceptionally cute.
Wilson smiled and said casually, “If you really wish to do so, I’ll call some men to bring him to an alley after he’s discharged. We’ll blindfold him so you can beat him up as much as you want.”
“Forget it! Let’s not get involved in illegal stuff like that!”
Serene bit her lips. Feeling somewhat terrified, she lifted her head and took a look at Wilson. Then, she asked in a soft voice, “Are you a gang leader or something?”
“Do you think a gang leader would look like me?”
Serene stared at the man’s handsome face and shook her head. In her impression, gang leaders always wore gold chains and tiny watches. They always donned flower printed shirts, tight-fitting pants and tods.
On the other hand, the man standing in front of her oozed an elegant aura. He looked like a model who could rock any outfit. No part of him resembled a thug.
Serene pouted, “Although you’re my boyfriend, I feel like I don’t know you at all.”
Wilson looked at her with gentle eyes and said, “You’ll have plenty of time to learn more about me. If you’re worried that I’m a person who always engages myself in illegal activities, worry not. I will never do any illegal stuff.”
Serene kept quiet.
…
Heaton received a call from Wilson after getting off of work.
“Mifepristone was detected in the food sample you sent me.”
Heaton’s brows turned into a slight frown as he asked, “What is mifepristone?”
Wilson answered, “Mifepristone is a main component in medicines that induces abortion. The rate of induced labor is as high as 90%.”
…
It was in the Fudd mansion.
Verian and Little Jelly Bean were nowhere to be found when Heaton arrived home.
“Where is Riana and Little Jelly Bean?”
Madam Leah answered, “Mrs. Fudd went out to pick up Little Jelly Bean with the driver and they’re not back yet.”
Heaton replied with a cold hum and grabbed the watch on his wrist.
Soon, Nancy came back while holding Zaynie.
Nancy smiled, “Heaton, you got off work quite early today.”
Zaynie called him ‘uncle’ and he rubbed the boy’s head. Then, he said, “Zaynie, can you go and play by yourself for a minute? Uncle has to talk to your mum.”
“Alright!”
Nancy looked at Heaton after Zaynie left. “What is it that you wanted to tell me?”
Heaton’s gaze suddenly became stern and he stared at Nancy coldly. Nancy was surprised.
“You... your eyes… can you see now?”
“I just regained my sight.”
Verian wanted Nancy to move out, but standing in Zaynie’s shoes, she understood that he would feel lonely if Nancy moved out.
Heaton, who was silent the whole time, finally spoke, “Dad, since sister-in-law wants to move out, don’t stop her. She has her own life too and we can’t hold her back. After all, my brother has been gone for years and she is still young. She needs to be independent.”
Nancy’s face turned pale upon hearing Heaton’s words.
His message was crystal clear. Reading between the lines, he meant that Nancy should remarry someone else instead of staying in the Fudd family.
The old master thought that Nancy had the intention to do that. Hence, he did not stop her from moving out. After all, Briskly was gone for years. The old master would have no objection if she wanted to remarry someone else.
“Alright, moving out is not that bad. Zaynie will be safe here so you don’t have to worry about him. You can come back to visit him or stay over once in a while when you miss him. If Zaynie misses you, you can bring him over to your place for a few days. We’re still going to be living in the same city even though you will be moving out, so it’s still pretty convenient.”
Nancy simply nodded her head. She lowered her head and tried to hold back her tears.
…
It was at night when Verian just got out from the shower and was lying on the bed.
Heaton was reading a document on their bed. She leaned in close to him and said, “Don’t you think that sister-in-law is acting a bit weird today? I can’t believe that she wants to move out.”
“Maybe she met someone she likes. It won’t be convenient for her to live in the Fudd’s family then.”
Verian frowned and said, “I don’t think so. She still had feelings for you, so how is it possible that she met someone else she likes?”
“Feelings for me?”
Heaton put down his document, turned over and hovered over her. With his huge hands playing with her hair, he said, “Mrs. Fudd, don’t you dare simply put labels on me.”
Except for family love, he never had any other feelings for Nancy.
“I just thought that it was really weird. It’s super weird indeed.”
As Verian was still thinking about that matter, Heaton said in a gentle voice, “You should be the happiest person in the world if she moves out. Why would you care about the reason for her moving out? Nobody will go against you anymore if she moves out.”
Verian smiled, “You’re right. I can finally become the mistress of this house!”
