Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 314

Verian took a whiff from Heaton’s warm scent while raising her tiny face from his chest, she said, “Can you bring Little Jelly Bean over for a few days?”

Heaton raised his brows slightly and seemed slightly unwilling as he said, “It’s New Year’s Eve next week and we’ll have to return on eve’s night so why’re we bringing the little rascal over anyway?”

The result of bringing Little Jelly Bean over would be the deprivation of sex for a few days in a rows. He might not even have the chance to hug Verian to sleep at night.

He had long-term insomnia and whenever he hugged Verian as he slept, his insomnia would be less serious.

However, if Little Jelly Bean was to come over, she would no doubt throw a fit on wanting to sleep with Verian.

Verian looked at him with a funny look as he said, “How could you say that about your own daughter? Little Jelly Bean is quite obedient, okay? I’ve not seen her in days and I miss her dearly.”

Heaton’s phone suddenly rang.

The man raised his brows when he looked at the caller’s ID as he said, “Speak of the devil.”

Verian stood on her toes and said, “Is that Little Jelly Bean?”

Heaton picked up the call and all he could hear was a child-like voice from the other end, “Hey, Daddy…”

“Why aren’t you asleep yet? It’s so late now!”

“I missed you, okay! Daddy, where’s Monty?”

Heaton scoffed and said, “If you really missed me, why did you ask for Monty after only speaking so briefly with me?”

Verian noticed his stern look. She smiled and said, “Don’t tease her already.”

Little Jelly Bean said, “Daddy, I heard Monty’s voice!”

Heaton handed Verian his phone immediately.

“Do you miss me, Jelly Bean?”

“Yeah! I miss you! Monty, do you miss me?”

“I do, I miss you dearly.”

Heaton noticed the mother-daughter duo bonding over a phone call and no longer wished to listen to anymore of it. Hence, he turned around and was ready to manage some emails.

About half an hour later, Verian took his phone into the study.

The moment she entered the study, she noticed Heaton was wearing a pair of silver-framed glasses while working on his laptop.

This was the first time for Verian to see Heaton in glasses. He looked fresh.

“Why’re you suddenly wearing glasses now?”

Heaton said, “Workload has been increasing lately and my vision is slightly poor.”

Verian asked, “Oh right, your phone is almost out of power, where’s your charger?”

Heaton pointed as Verian approached the charging dock and placed the phone down to charge.

“You spoke with Little Jelly Bean for that long?”

“Yeah, she was in bed so I told her a bedtime story as well. I hung up after tucking her to bed.”

When Verian approached him, she was dragged into his arms as she sat on his lap. Heaton stared intensely at her with his dark eyes and said, “When will you start to comfort me like that too?”

Verian reached out to touch his nose bridge since there was a red mark left behind from the pressure of his glasses.

Verian then put the glasses on for him from the desk.

“Was Mrs. Fudd trying to hide Mr. Fudd’s attractive looks?”

“Just for cover. Sigh… You should wear a pair of full black framed glasses.”

Heaton was beaming from his eyes.

After Verian helped him put on those glasses, she gently patted his shoulder and said while getting up, “I won’t bother you while you work any longer. I’m going to bed. Good night.”

However, Heaton then pulled her back to him as he said while sitting on the chair, “Rainie, I’m a selfish person. I don’t have self-sacrificing values for other’s gain. I don’t wish to have that in future as well. If I sacrifice myself for the sake of others, my loved ones will be in pain. That isn’t worth it. No matter how people see me and it doesn’t matter if they think I’m cold, I don’t want you nor Little Jelly Bean to lose me. There're bound to be people fighting over to save the world and be a hero so I might not even be required to do so. However, only I can provide you and Little Jelly Bean a stable life.”

Verian stood in front of him, bent over, took off his glasses and kissed his lips.

“I only want you to be my hero. I won’t be foolish enough to offer you to the world to save it.”

She disliked those self-sacrificing heroes in Marvel movies and all she liked was Heaton to bring her to safety whenever there was danger.

Perhaps Heaton was capable of doing so since Verian literally worshiped him. However, even if Heaton could save the world, losing him even when the entire world was kept alive was meaningless to her.

However, if the entire world truly turned their backs on them, she could not bear to allow him to be smothered by the entire world.

She was aware of what consequences would await her if her life had been exposed to the world.

Heaton was so excellent to the point of being completely flawless. If he was being dragged under for her sake or perhaps drowned by people, it would hurt her a lot and she could never forgive herself for being so selfish to the extent of dragging Heaton down with her.
