Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 281

Verian’s heart somehow throbbed when she stared at his lonely and depressing back.

She could not feel calm when she thought about him rushing into the fiery inferno to save her.

This man was not only Zion, but he was also Heaton.

“You don’t want to be my friend but I do. From now on, I am your friend and it’ll be pointless even if you try to refuse me.”

Verian approached him and spoke in a cheerful tone before reaching out and grabbing his right arm to check on that burn scar.

Although it had been ten years since he got that scar, it was still obvious that it was caused by a burn. It seemed that the injury back then was really serious.

Verian lowered her gaze to look at the scar and teared up. She said while sniffling, “You really are a fool. Why did you try so desperately to save my life when we only met once?”

Zion stared intensely at her before replying, “it is because you’re my very first friend I made in this world. It was you who told me that I am no one else’s shadow and I have the right to continue living.”

It was this woman in front of him who told him how unfortunate it would be if he died. Hence, he felt that there was still a purpose for him to continue living.

Verian’s tears began falling uncontrollably and it landed on his burn scar.

She reached out to give him a tight hug.

“Thank you, truly… Zion Fudd.”

If he had not saved her back then, she would not have lived till this day and she would have never met Heaton or his other personality, Zion.

Zion frowned when he noticed Verian was crying. He reached out to gently wipe away her tears. He spoke in a deep voice, “I didn’t save you for you to cry now.”

Verian chuckled while sniffling in her messy state. She stared at him with her teary eyes. “I am crying because I’m touched. I wasn’t sad.”

Verian then curiously asked, “Oh right, didn’t you tell me that you didn’t know your name? Why are you called Zion Fudd?”

Zion focused intensely at her and said, “Because it was midnight when I met you.”

That was also the first time in his existence to ever feel touched and that happened during midnight.

Verian’s tears once again began to fall uncontrollably.

However, Zion said, “Don’t cry.”

The very next morning, when Verian lazily walked downstairs, she was greeted with a table full of food for breakfast.

Zion came out of the kitchen with two plates of fried eggs.

“Did you make all this?”

“Yeah, I didn’t know what you like so I made all kinds of food.”

Verian chuckled and sat down. She praised him, “I’m not a picky eater, I eat pretty much everything.”

Zion served a bowl of shrimp porridge to her. Verian thanked him after accepting it.

After a bite, Verian praised him again, “It’s so fresh. Your cooking is incredible.”

Zion then used a fork and knife to slice the black-pepper steak into cubes. After he was done, he placed it in front of Verian.

Verian was startled by the amount of affection she received as she said, “Don’t just feed me, have some yourself too. I can cut it by myself.”

Zion then elegantly sliced some fried egg and calmly said, “I enjoy treating you well.”

Verian was beaming and her heart felt warm.

The breakfast Zion made was amazing. Since Verian had a good appetite, she ate plenty of it.

Due to the switch in personality, Zion did not head into the office today. After Verian was done eating, she slouched by the table while reading a book since she had nothing to do.

Suddenly, she felt that she was being carried away from behind.

“I manifested from Heaton’s blue emotions and those include his depressive episodes, sorrow and all other complicated feelings he has. Xavier and I are complete polar opposites of each other.”

Verian buried herself into his chest while tightly hugging his waist with both hands. She mumbled, “You’re actually Heaton’s twenty-two year old self, aren’t you?”

Both of Zion’s hands stiffened before gently hugging her back.

Zion pressed his thin lips on her forehead and whispered, “I will never be like Xavier to want Heaton to stay asleep forever. I know that I will one day disappear completely but can you promise me to let me stay by your side just for a little while longer?”

Verian teared up as she placed her palm on his heart. She said, “Zion, you won’t ever disappear completely. Even if you never reappear again, you will always be here. It doesn’t matter if they were you, Xavier or Heaton, all of you guys will be right here.”

The third day of Zion’s appearance was his birthday.

“Today is your birthday. How would you like to spend it?”

Zion replied, “As long as it’s with you, I don’t really mind.”

Verian held onto his hand and said, “Let’s head out then since it’s not easy for you to be here anyway. You might not have fully enjoyed this city’s scenery or had any delicacies here, right?”

“Alright then.”

Verian said when they were in the car, “Why don’t I bring you to my high school? The street my high school is on has plenty of amazing food.”

Zion naturally would not refuse because he always wanted to know more about Verian’s world and the life she once lived.

Their lunch was at a restaurant close to North City High School. Verian suddenly wanted to use the washroom as they ate. Zion wanted to accompany her but she refused.

After ten minutes of waiting and noticing Verian was not out yet, Zion called out to her.

Verian picked up her phone and said, “I’ll be right back. Just wait for a bit. There’s a crowd here at the washroom.”

However, when Verian got out, she was holding a small paper box in her hand. It looked like a box for a birthday cake.
