Chapter 981: Damn right I did

[PRESENT TIME]

Penny almost choked on her food at the quick story while she was running a fever. Her mouth opened and closed as she looked at them in disbelief.

"Mom!" she yelled, only to see Allison beam. She then cast a look at Zoren, but the latter shrugged in response. "Oh, my god..."

Meanwhile...

"Hi." A beautiful young woman gracefully sat down across from Atlas. Her pink lips curled beautifully, and her thin, long lashes fluttered.

Her simple brows rose slightly as she watched the handsome man in front of her lift his sharp, dark olive eyes. "I’m—"

"Rosie."

"Huh?"

"Are you Rosie?" Atlas asked, tilting his head to the side.

The woman blinked, confusion spreading across her face. "Are you not Mister Atlas Bennet?"

"I am."

"Then I am your date," she explained, still sounding confused. "My name is... Love."

"Ah." Atlas deadpanned, unfazed by the beauty shining in front of him. He quietly checked his wristwatch and smirked. "You’re early, Miss Love. We’re supposed to meet one hour from now. I was supposed to meet with Miss Rosie."

"Oh..." The woman maintained a graceful smile despite her confusion. "You’re on a different blind date, except with me?"

"I’m surprised you hadn’t noticed that, considering how cold this cup of tea is here."

Love pursed her lips and glanced at the untouched tea in front of him. How am I supposed to know that it’s cold? Still, out of formality, she ignored it and kept up appearances.

"Well, I came early, and whoever this Rosie was isn’t here. Why don’t we just get to know each other?" She suggested. "It’s a date, and she’s late. It’s not very polite."

"It is not polite. However, this time is specifically for Miss Rosie."

"But—"

"I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I can’t agree with what you’re suggesting. We have time together, and even if Miss Rosie is late, there’s still a possibility that she will show up."

"Then, make her wait."

Atlas arched a brow, catching the cunning smirk on her face. "She’s making you wait. So, why not make her wait as well?"

"Vengeful... I like it."

"It’s okay." Atlas rose to his feet just as Rosie was trying to sit down, halting her action. "You’re fifteen minutes late, Miss Rosie. That alone told me what kind of person you are, and I know it’s not going to work."

Atlas placed a small bill on the table. "I ordered lunch for you to enjoy alone. It’s a good thing I ordered one, as I had a premonition that I wouldn’t like you."

Having said that, Atlas turned around and walked away. The other woman, Love, was still standing not far away. Hence, Atlas paused in his tracks and turned his head to the side where Love was standing.

"You didn’t want to make her wait so you could... say all of that?" Love muttered in disbelief, only to see him smirk.

"Damn right I did."

Love scoffed, watching him resume his steps as if he hadn’t just made two women angry in a span of minutes. She shook her head, running her tongue across her inner cheek.

"Lenient and considerate?" She laughed in ridicule. "His sister is right. He is vengeful... ridiculously vengeful."

Unbeknownst to the two women, they weren’t the only ones Atlas had angered in a short span of time. In fact, all of his dates either walked away fuming or splashed him with water or tea.

Allen, who was there as support for his boss, sighed for the umpteenth time. Seeing Atlas walking away, he felt like crying.

’This is going worse than I expected,’ he thought, teeth clenched, his heart bitter. ’There are still some afternoon arrangements. At this point, I’m afraid the extra suits I brought for him aren’t sufficient for the entire day!’

Despite his heavy heart, Allen pushed himself and tiptoed his way out to follow Atlas. Unlike Atlas, Allen was more concerned with how he could prepare more suits now that they were moving to a different location for another set of dates.

Allen was certain Atlas would need more suits. Though he prayed that all these women would eventually find a good man for them—Atlas was just not one of them.
