Chapter 1159: It’s just one person!

[WARNING: THE Chapter CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT.]

Atlas had only one plan — ONE — to use Hugo as bait. Since they were aware that Slater, Benjamin, Mint, Zoren, and Penny were also inside the territory, they needed to draw the enemy’s attention.

And that’s exactly what they were going to do. With Mark infiltrating the base as quietly as a rat, and Atlas waiting outside (because he wouldn’t be helpful at all), Hugo jumped into the truck they had used to get here.

Revving the engine, Hugo quickly switched off the beams, driving backward before moving forward again. He followed the path, and when he was close, the people outside glanced in his direction. However, seeing that it was one of their trucks, the man stationed at the gate quickly approached. Although the guard didn’t fully open the gate to check the driver, the loose security was enough for Hugo to ram his truck into it.

Vroom!

Taking advantage of the slack security, Hugo slammed his foot on the pedal and drove at the truck’s top speed.

"Hey—!" the guard, who had been waiting at the gate, widened his eyes as he saw the truck suddenly accelerate. He raised his hands to stop it, only to realize it wouldn’t work. So, he jumped out of the way, narrowly avoiding being crushed as the truck rammed through the gate.

The first hit didn’t bring the gate down, prompting Hugo to reverse.

"What the..." Those watching the truck move back furrowed their brows. "... Is he crazy — the fuck!!!"

Before the person could finish his remark, the truck slammed into the gate again.

BAM!

And when that didn’t work, Hugo tried again.

The guard, who had jumped out of the way to avoid getting hit, furrowed his brows in confusion. Once he recovered from his shock and bad fall, he turned toward the truck and saw an unfamiliar person behind the wheel.

"An intruder..." he muttered, instinctively reaching for his rifle. But just as he raised the weapon, Hugo suddenly pulled something from his side. Hugo didn’t even look in his direction as he pointed the weapon at him.

"Uh... hell no!"

BANG!

CLANG!

"Ahhh!!!" the guard writhed in pain, his hand was shot, causing him to lose his grip on the rifle. He also opened fire, but unfortunately, he only heard the metal clanging into another metal. He missed and now he could no longer use his hand to correct it. "Ahhh! My hand!!"

"Ahhh! Intruder! There’s an intruder!"

The sound of gunfire snapped everyone from their trance. The man’s screams of pain echoed with the gunshots, making everyone’s adrenaline run through the very ends of their nerves.

"An intruder!"

"Stop him!"

"Stop the truck!"

Men both inside and outside the territory shouted at the top of their lungs, trying to alert everyone they could. The syndicate members scattered throughout the building heard the commotion and buzzes from their walkie-talkies, prompting them to grab their weapons and move.

BAM!

BANG! BANG! CLANG!

"The tires! Focus on the tires!"

"I can’t see him! It’s too foggy!"

"Hey! Be careful where you’re shooting—" the person who was about to yell lost his voice as his body crumpled to the ground with a thud. He had been shot dead by friendly fire.

The man next to him froze, staring at his fallen comrade, breath hitching as he saw blood spreading on the ground.

"Hey!!!" the man screamed in horror. "We’re shooting our own members!! The truck! It’s reflecting the bullets!"

He may have been wrong, but with the random gunfire, the probability of hitting each other was high. The fog surrounding the truck had grown thick, almost like a mini tornado now.

"Hey! Stop shooting—" the man who had been trying to warn others eventually joined the growing list of fallen soldiers.

"He’s shooting back! He’s armed!" another voice yelled from across the yard. "Take cover! He’s armed!"

As the warning echoed, those who hadn’t heard it continued standing in the open. It wasn’t until they saw sparks flying from inside the thick fog that they realized they weren’t the only ones firing. The person inside the truck was taking them down, one by one.

"It’s just one person! How could you not hit him?!"

As chaos erupted in the front yard, the soldiers inside the building quickly found positions on higher ground. But what they didn’t know was that one of them... was shooting their own members without hesitation.

Mint.
