"Are you okay?" I asked him the moment we got into his car as I never heard him talk again.

He sighed before glancing at me with an expression I couldn't read.

"I think I should be the one asking you that question, babe. Are you okay?"

"Uhm... y-yeah. Why do you ask?" I asked him confused.

"I asked because I thought weren't ready to talk to him yet, but I was wrong."

"David..." Now I finally read the emotions in his eyes and those are sadness, hurt and jealousy. "Are you jealous?" I smiled and waited for his answer.

"This isn't about me, Sam, and to answer your question, I was more shocked than jealous earlier. Since when did you start talking to him again?"

I became speechless for a moment. I didn't expect that question to come up.

"Since Cali's birthday, he was there too and you know I couldn't avoid him as he is my daughter's father."

"I know and I'm not telling you to avoid him because that's too impossible. You just haven't told me anything about it yet and I was shocked to see him inside your house with a bouquet of flowers."

"I didn't accept the flowers."

"So, those are really for you." It wasn't a question. I know it's confirmation, so I decided to be honest and tell him the truth.

"Yes, he said those were for me, but I refused to accept them. And I'm sorry for not telling you about him in advance." I put my hand on his arm that was on the steering wheel, but it seemed like it did not affect him as he never glanced at my direction. And I felt guilty for not telling him.

"So, what have you talked about since then? Does bother you now and asks for a second chance?"

I was shocked to hear his question, but what shocked me the most was the thought of where is he getting those ideas?

"Did he ask you to be with him again?" At that moment, he looked at me. His face held a serious expression.

"No!" I shook my head in surprise. "We haven't had a formal, proper conversation since I got back to the country. There was just one time when he helped me fix the kitchen faucet and that was the time he apologized for what he did, for all things he did to me before."

"He apologized." He repeated and I nodded.

"Yes, but that's just it, nothing more, nothing less."

He sighed again before flashing me a smile that didn't even reach his eyes.

"Okay, I believe you, I just have a question, babe."

"What is it?"

He stared at me for a few seconds. "Are you sure that you love me?"

That question left me open-mouthed but I tried to get my senses back.

"Wait, what kind of question is that, I mean where did you get that---"

"Do you really love me?"

I gulped as he interrupted me.

"Of course! Y-Yes! I love you, David. Why do you suddenly ask?"

He smiled, shaking his head.

"Nah. I just want to make sure if you still have the same feelings as mine."

I couldn't help but smile at him and cupped his cheek.

"Babe, I don't know where that question comes from, but I love you and I still do."

He took my hand and soon brought it to his lips.

"You know how much I love you, right?"

I gulped, but I nodded.

"And, of course, cheers to the awesome and blooming relationship of my two friends, Sam and David. May you guys continue to love each other, forever and ever!"

"Cheers!"

Although I was surprised at what I heard, I just kept it myself and followed what the people around us were yelling.

"Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"

I looked into David's eyes and I don't know but I saw a sadness in them instead of the opposite emotion he should be feeling at the moment. But when I smiled at him, it instantly vanished and replaced with excitement.

Soon I found myself kissing him back in the middle, surrounded by our friends and all the employees of the shop who remained and chose to stay with us even when they knew they will be working under new management starting tomorrow.

The event went successful, but in the afternoon and to my surprise, David received a call from his fellow doctor and said he badly needed to get back to his duty.

"Wait, I thought you said you're going to stay here for two weeks?" I asked him, disappointment filled me.

"Babe, I know but I'm sorry, I promise to make it to you when you get back to New York. And don't worry because we can still call each other, right?"

"Yes, but I held on to your promise," I said tugging on the sleeves of his shirt.

"I'm sorry. How I wish I could stay a little longer, but you know this job is really clingy." He smiled, pinching the tip of my nose.

I sighed.

"When is your flight going back to New York?"

"Maybe within the next day." He shrugged.

"That early?"

"I have no choice, babe, I am a doctor and I can't refuse to help my patients."

"Okay." I sighed again. Honestly, I've already lost count of it.

I don't know how to explain my feelings at that moment. Deep down in me, I don't know why I feel afraid... afraid that when he's gone and finally back in New York, things will change... not between us, but between me and Luke. I know I love David and I'm sure of it, but I keep asking myself every time l saw Luke, why there's always confusion and battle forming between my heart and my mind in which I know, is wrong. It's totally wrong.
