The Lost Heiress: Never Forgiven (Sierra Xander) novel Chapter 485

Greg had no idea his younger brother was involved with White, nor did he know what he'd done to displease the so-called prince.

All he knew was that White suddenly pulled his funding from Nate’s biotech project.

The project had been halfway through when White abruptly withdrew, leaving Greg completely baffled. He visited White several times, but was turned away every time.

None of this was a secret. Johnathan found out quickly.

Compared to Greg’s misfortune, things on Johnathan’s end were going almost too smoothly.

The branch family had quieted down completely. His two uncles had both been summoned for questioning, and everyone who once supported them had been thoroughly purged.

Most importantly, the government departments that had previously been pressuring him had gone silent — it was as if everyone had collectively decided to turn a blind eye.

“What’s this all about?” Sierra asked. “It’s going way too smoothly.”

She didn’t usually involve herself in Wynn family affairs, but she wasn’t naïve.

If Johnathan had called it troublesome, there was no way it would just resolve itself so easily.

Johnathan chuckled. “He panicked. Got sloppy. Made mistakes.”

White had found no opening thanks to Johnathan’s constant vigilance, so this entire mess was his desperate attempt to create one.

Sierra frowned. “Why’s he in such a rush this time? It’s not like him.”

White had always been good at pretending. This time, though, he was clearly slipping.

“He probably has something new up his sleeve. Something he’s confident we can’t stop — which is why he doesn’t care anymore.”

Johnathan’s voice turned quiet and cold.

He had already instructed people to investigate any newly circulating drugs.

So far, there had been no solid leads.

Overseas, reports said that ever since the so-called “cleanup” of the organization, there hadn’t been any new substances appearing on the market.

Even though they’d now narrowed in on White, his identity made things complicated. Without direct evidence, no one could touch him.

And that was exactly what White was relying on.

Sierra thought of that too and said, “Getting hard evidence on him might be impossible.”

Even if she offered herself as bait, he probably wouldn’t do anything personally. Without his direct involvement, he couldn’t be pinned for anything.

Johnathan had more than a dozen ways to make White disappear from this world, but doing so would throw two nations into chaos and send shockwaves through the global economy.

Their families were simply too powerful. Any move would trigger a ripple effect.
