Two weeks later, Sierra’s lab project had wrapped up. After much thought, she decided to restart her own research topic -and the person who supported her the most was none other than White.
“I can help with everything you need!”
White offered generously.
“No need. I already talked it over with Professor Yaager, and he agreed.”
Sierra turned down White’s offer.
White’s eyes flickered. “He agreed? Didn’t he always oppose it before?”
“It’s been calm lately,” Sierra said. “He asked around and confirmed things are relatively safe now, so he’s not going to stop me anymore.”
“Well, that’s great!”
White paused, then asked, “Can I join your experiment?”
Before Sierra could respond, he added, “You’ve seen I’m not clueless. I may not be on the same level as your seniors, but I learn fast. I believe I can meet your standards soon.”
Sierra thought for a moment and said, “If you’ve got the time, you can join. I do need more people for this project. My advisor has other urgent work, and the seniors are helping him. But just so we’re clear – I don’t have any money to pay you.”
She’d chosen this time precisely because she knew her advisor had a high–priority project. She didn’t want Autumn and the others involved – it might be dangerous.
As expected, White didn’t question her decision. He immediately said, “Sure, I’ll help you. But won’t your Professor Yaager get jealous?”
Sierra glanced at him. “He’s friendly with everyone. It was you and Mateo who had a falling out.”
What she meant was: Johnathan already considered White a friend, so he wouldn’t be hostile anymore.
“Haha, that’s good then.”
White laughed heartily. “I was partly to blame back then. Tell you what – let’s have a meal together sometime. Last time was fun. This time, I’ll pick the place. It might not be the Wynn family’s private mountain, but it’s still pretty nice.”
“Sure,” Sierra agreed.
White, always impulsive, set it up that very weekend. He invited everyone to a famous resort on the outskirts of the capital. It catered exclusively to high–end guests. Somehow, he managed to boc place.

Autumn was stunned by the extravagance.

“So this is the world of the rich, huh?”
She felt entirely out of place.
Draven, standing nearby, said, “Some people are rich and dumb. What can you do?”

He didn’t mention that the resort was owned by his family. White had only managed to book it thanks to him.
He had doubled the price and White agreed without batting an eye.
This move tested White’s financial ability and made them a tidy profit. Either way, they weren’t losing out. They even discussed it privately, deciding to give White some face today.
So when White came over with a glass of wine, trying to make peace, everyone welcomed him – except Mateo.
Draven didn’t know exactly what Johnathan was planning, but they’d been friends for years, and he had a good guess. So he was happy to play along.
At the dinner, Sierra also announced that she would be resuming her old research. Professor Martin understood but said, “I’ve got an urgent project. I don’t think they’ll be able to help you.”
“That’s fine, Professor. You go ahead with your work,” Sierra said. “I don’t even know how long mine will take.”
“When everyone finishes helping you, they can help me. It won’t be too late.” She’d estimated that Professor Martin’s project would take at least half a year.
