Over dinner, Sierra shared some of her weekend plans with Johnathan. Her ideas were so detailed and thoughtfully laid out that he couldn’t help but smile.

Sounds good. I’ll join in this weekend!

Great!

Sierra had been thinking about this for a while. Johnathan had been too tense and too busy lately. He. needed a breaksome time to truly unwind.

With Wayne’s funeral finally over, Sierra and Yan Chang’an discussed inviting a few close friends who had helped throughout the ordeal. So, over the weekend, she called on Draven, Mateo, Stone, Maddox, and Dickson to come visit. 2

Except for Dickson, they were all pampered young mastersguys who had probably never washed a dish in their lives. The idea of planting vegetables, tending trees, and hunting rabbits in the mountains sparked a surprising level of enthusiasm.

After all, many people had long coveted the Wynn family’s mountain estatebut very few were ever allowed to set foot here.

Even members of the family themselves were only allowed to visit once a year for a meal. No one dared so much as mention a hike, let alone hunting..

So when Sierra extended the invitation, the group showed up at dawn, eager as kids on a field trip.

Mateo wasted no time laying on the compliments thick.

Sierra, it had to be you. Johnathan would’ve never thought to invite us.”

His tone carried a hint of teasing disdain toward Johnathanthough only whispered, of course.

As he glanced toward him, Johnathan was deep in conversation with Stone. Mateo couldn’t help but notice how much Johnathan’s presence had changed. In just a short time, his aura had grown even heavier- steadier to the point of being intimidating.

I don’t know how you put up with him,Mateo muttered. Every time I talk to him now, I get nervous.”.

It wasn’t that Johnathan had changed, exactly. It was hard to explainjust a feeling.

Sierra chuckled. You’ve known each other for years, and you’re still scared of him?

Scared? Of course! Ask Maddoxthey’ll all say the same. Talking to Johnathan now feels like talking to our dads.

The group chatted for a while before heading up the mountain.

It wasn’t quite spring yet, but there was still plenty to exploreand for them, it was all a novelty.

There really were quite a few wild animals up there.

Back when the Wynn family claimed the land, they’d cleared out the predators but left the rabbits, pheasants, and other small wildlife.

With no one disturbing them for years, these creatures had flourished.

The group set up traps, grabbed some nets, and started chasing game with gleeful abandon.

By the time they were done, they’d caught several rabbits and pheasants. Stone even managed to fish a few from a deep pondno one knew how.

Johnathan made a call, and someone delivered seasoning and supplies.

They didn’t let the servants help. They insisted on doing everything themselves.

Johnathan and Stone took the lead.

With his mercenary background, Johnathan knew his way around a campfire. Stone had been in the military, so he was no slouch either. The two worked swiftly and efficiently, prepping the game and building a fire.

I’ll give it a try!

Mateo chimed in, excited to help.

Even Dravennormally holed up in a labcame over to join the fun.

Sierra and Dickson laid out the picnic mat and prepared plates and utensils.

When Sierra found out Dickson had been staying with the Radeon family all this time, she was surprised.

Sounds like you really get along with them.”

Dickson had always been a reserved person. The fact that he could comfortably stay with the Radeon family for this long was unexpected.

Yeah. Mr. Erwin and Madam Rina are great. Mateo’s great toohe’s taught me a lot.”

Sierra smiled. As long as you’re happy. Before you leave, take some things with you. We just got a delivery of fresh fruit. It’s really good.

The Radeon family didn’t lack for foodbut the gesture mattered.

Dickson agreedhappily.
