Johnathan’s aunt let out a cold laugh. “If he really becomes the family head, the first person he’ll go will probably be you.”

“Fine, fine!”

Johnathan’s aunt snapped, her tone sharp.

“Then consider me meddling. But if Johnathan’s going to take over as head of the Wynn family, I’m not agreeing to it.”

Last time, the old man had already introduced Johnathan to everyone. Though nothing had been officially announced, many family affairs had already been handed over to him.

She’d tried to drive a wedge between Johnathan and Jose before–but it hadn’t worked.

Left with no other options, she was taking matters into her own hands now.

“Dad, I formally request a new successor be named.”

Wayne didn’t answer right away. Instead, he looked toward Johnathan’s uncles.

“What about you two? Do you agree with her?”

The two of them exchanged a glance. Then, biting the bullet, they said, “Yes. We also think Johnathan isn’t quite suitable. Dad, please reconsider.”

“Tch.”

Johnathan, who had stayed silent until now, finally let out a snort.

“Why make things so complicated? I never wanted to deal with this Wynn family crap anyway. Whoever wants to be the head, let them have it.“/

He didn’t stop.

His aunt didn’t waste the opportunity.

“Johnathan, you’ve upset your grandfather again. Get out!”

Johnathan stared at her coldly. If he wanted to leave, no one could stop him.

Likewise, if he didn’t want to leave, no one had the right to force him.

Sierra tugged on his hand. “Go check on Grandpa.”

Johnathan tamped down the murderous rage in his chest and quickly had people call the doctor.

They were ushered out of the room, the family now clearly divided into two sides.

Johnathan didn’t want to stay–but he couldn’t bring himself to leave, not while Wayne was in this state. He held himself back, waiting.

Chase came over at some point and quietly said, “The doctor said your grandfather doesn’t have much time left. Just… try to go along with him, alright?”

Johnathan said nothing, but Sierra could tell–he’d softened.

In the entire Wynn family, Wayne might be the only person who could touch Johnathan’s heart.

Even so, Johnathan’s expression was still full of restrained fury. Sierra led him out into the courtyard.

The cold wind made her shiver involuntarily.

Johnathan quickly said, “It’s too cold. Let’s go back in.”

“No–it’s fine. I just want to stand here a bit.”

Sierra replied. She didn’t want to go back inside either–not with those people.

She knew Johnathan didn’t want to be there even more. If it weren’t for the old man, he would’ve walked away long ago.

And she could tell Wayne didn’t have much left. Johnathan clearly knew it too.

After a while, Johnathan’s mood calmed somewhat. He finally said, “Alright. Let’s go back in.”

But just as he turned, Sierra stopped him.

“Professor Yaager–whatever you choose, I’ll support you. As long as you have a clear conscience, that’s what matters.”
